So I recently joined a friend's private server, where intense PVP and grieving happens all the time. Trying to survive the first night hidden away from harm, I dug myself a small base underground - into the corner of a small lake overlooked by a very tall cliff. The first few days on the server, I remained unnoticed. I'd quietly be puttering and crafting around in my underground base, exiting only at night or when few people were on the server. Until one day, someone was passing by just as I finished concealing the entrance to my base. Luckily for me, they left the server seconds later - clearly no time for a nice raid - and I exhaled thankfully. But, when they returned, I wouldn't be quite so lucky!
I quickly packed myself up and grabbed all my items leaving just two torches and a sign behind. To the person who will return soon: "Congrats! You just found absolutely nothing!" So much for a successful raid, friend! Of course, it was only friends on the server, so we all enjoyed a good laugh later when the raider returned... only to see a lovely reminder and rubbing-in of a failed raid.
Although there exist infinite methods to troll on servers, this one is quick and easy - also disappointing to a fellow player with hopes of a fantastic raid.
