Blogger’s Note – I’ve been playing this on a daily basis for the last few weeks, used the official Wikipedia and watched Mogamu’s YouTube channel to gain all the knowledge and enjoyment of gameplay. Also I know this isn’t minecraft related but I’ve been wanting to do another blog for a while now and this was something that came straight to mind when I thought of a blog idea.
Warframe is a free to play open beta game developed by Digital Extremes whom are also know for their Evolution Engine. DE was founded in 1933 by James Schmalz and the team is know best for the Unreal series of games. DE mainly work in London ontario when examining their website's 'About' section.
The genre/s in warframe are mainly science fiction and third person shooters, but they can also have reference to MMO- lite, shooter genres and more. This game is available on the three main platforms of PC, Xbox and PlayStation. Due to the certification processes both Microsoft and Sony have this means that console Tenno are waiting for the latest updates whereas PC Tenno will always get updates quickest.
Their website is www.warframe.com, they also have their forums as well as fansites such as warframe-builder where people can customise their warframe setups and see how well it works. This site also allows users to submit their builds. www.primarchguild.com/ is another fansite that lists the locations of where prime parts drop.
Most of the gameplay on Warframe is player vs environment which is great if you don't find yourself much of a pvp'er, or you enjoy the story and lore in the game. There are a many things that you can do in Warframe:
- complete all the areas of planets
- complete the codex out
- master your weapons & warframes
- rank up your overall mastery
- upgrade the weapons' capability with mods
- use resource extractors
- collect and farm resources
And more…
All of the planets in the Warframe world feature a boss on each level, with different game types such as; Exterminate, Spy, Hijack, Invasion, Rescue, Sabotage, Excavation (Dark Excavation), Defence (Dark Excavation), Capture, Assassination, Crossfire, Deception, Survival, Mobile Defence and Interception.
As you can see these are only a few examples of what you can do in Warframe, there are numerous planets to finish the tilesets (levels) which also includes a boss that you have to defeat. These bosses drop warframe parts, rare drops, uncommon or rare resources and navigation segments that are required to input into the Liset’s (your ship) navigation systems.
Did I forget to mention, the level range of planets increases when you unlock certain planets to proceed. Currently the mastery rank for your warframe, primary weapon, secondary weapon and melee weapon is a max of level 30. The variety of weapons makes for a great range of play styles from shoot outs to stealthy mode.
The main types of enemies and warring factions are the Grineer, the Corpus and the Infested, there are some other enemies in the Void, and Orokin Derelict, enemies like the corrupted lancers, similar to the Grineer but the corrupted versions. Within the main factions are there a range of enemies from melee to aerial to shooting enemies. There are also aforementioned bosses and the Stalker who tracks you down sometimes after killing a certain boss.
Last thing to mention in this review, the missions, in this game there are a variety of missions that you can do to get items or expand on a story. Update 18 released as of nearly a week or over, the Second Dream that included another system and a new set of weapons, missions, a new warframe and more.
