I currently run a 1.8 Factions server. As such, I obviously have the need to find/implement plugins on the server. During my seaches, I've had several cases, where a plugin existed for no reason that simply to take up much-needed RAM on the server. Most recently, I was looking for a way to schedule automatic restarts. I found two ways of doing so. One which required finding a plugin, which in most cases needed you to alter your .bat or .sh files in order for the plugin to work correctly. The other way, which requires Multicraft, is simply by creating multicraft commands, and scheduling them as tasks. I chose the latter of the two, for a couple of reasons. 1 being that it doesn't require much extra RAM on the server's part, while still performing the same function. Another reason being that I kept failing to find out how to properly install the plugins which should have worked. So here's my question. Why do people download plugins that require more RAM and can lag the server, rather than finding more RAM-effective ways to do the same exact things? In 99% of cases, I see people using plugins that they really wouldn't have a need for if they just did a bit of Googling! Thanks for reading!
