Diamonding: Why Not?

It Doesn't Hurt You In Any Way
When you diamond somebody's post, it does not and cannot wash back on you. By giving someone else a diamond, you are not hurting yourself. All you are doing is helping someone else. So, when you diamond a post, there's nothing to lose. You cannot be hurt in any way from diamonding.

It Makes Someone Else Happy

When you diamond a post, someone else benefits from it. They are gratified by your demonstration that you care about their post, and the effort that they spent. For just that one click that you may have made, you can make somebody happy. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, giving a diamond can have absolutely no negative backwash on you. Giving a diamond to someone else is a rare opportunity to give someone else a little bit of happiness for no cost whatsoever.

What If Their Post Doesn't Deserve a Diamond?
Ask yourself, why doesn't this person deserve a diamond? Everybody has the right to be happy. If for no other reason, give a diamond to make somebody else happy. If something in their post is sub-par, leave a comment! Comments are wonderful things. They allow you to express your opinions on the post. That is where you should leave your complaints/criticisms. Doing so is much better than passing a post by. By leaving a comment and a diamond, you accomplish two things. You make a person happy for the effort that they put into a post, and, you also manage to help them improve at the same time.

Won't Giving a Diamond to a Bad Work Encourage Further Bad Work?
If all you did was diamond, it is possible that doing so would result in further bad work. However, as previously mentioned, when a work is not up to the standard, the best course of action is to leave a comment. There, in the comment, you can inform the poster that their comment is not up to par and needs to be. By doing so, you discourage further bad work.
Won't Giving Out Excessive Diamonds Make Diamonds Worthless?
It is true that giving out diamonds willy-nilly is liable to decrease their value. However, what you don't have to do is give out a diamond immediately. If a person works hard to get a diamond, and gets one in the end, then a diamond is still as worthwhile as it was before. The key factor is to make sure that they've worked to get that lovely diamond. Without work, a diamond becomes worthless.

Conclusion
In conclusion, diamonding is a wonderful thing. It can be used to give happiness to somebody at no cost to the giver. If for no other reason, diamonds should be given to make another human being happy. If you have a problem with a work, instead of not giving a diamond and leaving it be, leave a comment! What this article isn't telling you to do is, maraud around giving diamonds to everybody. What it is telling you to do is when you see a post, read it, perhaps give it a diamond, and comment to give your feedback!

Speaking of comments, I will also reply to every comment put on this blog, so feel free to express your thought!

I know right. I get frustrated that people don't get many subs e.g. Disco has over 1,300 subs out of over 1,041,000 people on pmc and he is the highest rank.

What is the point then? What point could be better than deliver happiness?

To reward quality submissions.
I am sick of seeing bullcrap on the front page, and I always wondered 'well, who would be dumb enough to diamond that?'
At least now I know.

This is what I have to say about this Crimson,

Its not about making a person happy. Its about showing the person that their work is quality. You just don't go around diamonding everything you see, if you do this, it gets rid of the point of diamonds and what they are meant for. TheArtist makes a really good point. And you're calling him a terrible person because he is saying that diamonds are not for giving happiness they are meant for showing that someone has good quality in their submissions.

So, Crimson. Tell me, why do you think diamonds should not be given? Or do you even have a good reason other than making someone happy. It does not really bother me if I get diamonds or not. But, when you make a blog about this, its telling me your submissions don't get diamonds and this is you complaining about you not getting more diamonds for your submissions which are only getting 1 to 2 diamonds each.

It is like you are begging for diamonds. This blog has 20 diamonds that were given by people who mightn't even thought why they are diamonding this blog. I these blogs are just pointless as anything, you are trying to tell everyone "HEY, go around and diamond everything you see because it makes them happy!".

If I did not care about this problem then why did I just type 3 paragraphs going against this? Crimson, just stop. This makes no sense on why you making this blog. It should rather be about people diamonding skins that are worth giving a diamond too. Diamonds are meant to show someones quality for their submissions not something like "OH HEY, THIS THING LOOKS PRETTY COOL. DIAMOND" Without even trying out the map, skin, texturepack, mod, or really anything.

You give diamonds to submissions that deserve those diamonds.

1. I'm calling TheArtist a terrible person for viewing rewarding submissions as better than making people happy.
2. The main reasons I think diamonds should be given are as follows. A. To award effort. B. To make someone happy.
3. I respect the point that giving out too many diamonds could devalue them.
4. So, making this blog automatically means that I'm complaining because I don't get diamonds? Where'd that come from?
5. When did I insinuate I was begging for diamonds?
6. Key word in your sentence about the 20 diamonders not thinking is "might".
7. I SPECIFICALLY stated that you were not supposed to maraud around diamonding everything that you saw at first sight.
8. What's wrong diamonding to make somebody happy?
9. "This makes no sense on why you making this blog"?
10. Who are you to tell me what this blog "should" be about?
11. Deserve? Everyone deserves to be happy.
12. Why don't you consider what you're saying and your basis for saying that before you go off and write three paragraphs of ranting. Why don't you get all of your facts straight before you brand me as a complaining coward?
