It's a true shame that Archeology had to be pushed back to another update, but some of us simply can't wait! So I challenge myself to completely recreate Archeology in 1.17 in less than a day. And I completed that goal!
Welcome to my 5 hours of work! Here are a few things you need to do to begin your journey to being minecrafts greatest archeolliger.
Obtaining a Brush
Brushes can be found in Strongholds, Desert Pyramids, Mineshaft, and Treasure chests! They come in two varients, Heavy and Light. Heavy Brushes will brush with greater speeds and find greater bounties of loot within their brushed blocks. Light brushes are slower and drop reasonably worse loot (Unless you love gold) however their delicate touch allows players to more easily create blocks of their dreams instead of going too fast with a heavy brush and ruining the whole block.
Actually Brushing
Soul Soil, Dirt and Gravel are the only blocks the player is allowed to dust off to find loot, however unlike in the 1.17 Minecon showcase, the block will not break when the player stops brushing, allowing for Soul Soil, Dirt and Gravel slabs! Light Brushes and Heavy Brushes find their own loot, and the loot generated is not related to the block brushed.
Vases
Clay Vases can be found while brushing with either types of brush, they are small clay molds that when placed ubove an open fire for a few seconds will harden and become large decorative Vases! Vases can be dyed by dropping the dye of your choice into them.
You are currently capable of adding textures and fragments to the faces of vases, but they will not save to the item when broken so I advise against it for now.
