New Death system:
When you die you get put in spectator
To respawn fly near a Death Relic
New setting:
Do '/scoreboard players set World deathrevamp_relics_only_work_once 1' to make sure that each death relic can only be used once, and replace the 1 with a 0 to turn it off
Better death makes death a scary prospect as a posed to just walking back to your items.
If your in a war with your friends, just destroying there respawn relic will make sure there army is gone
It creates much more thoughtful gameplay

Another, perhaps more complex idea I had was that of a "ghost ward" that prevents ghosts from entering an area around it. Not sure how that would work.
One last idea that is pretty feasible, is that of a ghost charm which allows you to see these invisible players. (This is pretty easily achieved by putting a all ghosts on a team, eg. "canSeeGhosts", then allowing teammates to see invisible teammates, and making it so that whenever someone holds a ghost charm they join "canSeeGhosts" and removing it when they aren't holding it.
