    Seeing the new updates to caves made me think that the Nether, which is effectively a giant cave would really benefit from those same changes



    This datapack is a slightly focused bag of ideas I've had for the nether that hopefully feel close to vanilla Minecraft, or like it fits within ideas of vanilla Minecraft
    A few general ideas that this datapack follow are as such
      -Allow full functionality of base vanilla features.
        -Trying to get a mix of column terrain and flat terrain specifically for hoglin hunts to still happen and not be clunky from the terrain
        -Maintain some form of lava ocean or lake or river system for strider travel
      -Create more integrated nether content. In vanilla the biome placement is rather random, alongside the 1.16 materials being very biome specific.

    -Right now I've tweaked the noise settings to make the terrain create a floor, a ceiling, with columns connecting between
    -The biome noise spread has also been altered
      -Nether wastes are meant to be a neutral biome
      -Basalt Deltas tend to be found inside Lava Lakes
      -Soul Valleys tend to be found near Basalt Deltas and Lava Lakes
      -The Nether Forest contest each other for the same spawn space so you'll tend to find them near each other
        -Warped Forests will tend to be more surrounded by crimson forests
        -The forests will tend to be near the Nether Wastes and Soul Valleys
      -Polar Chasms will tend to oppose 'hot' biomes, meaning Basalt Deltas > Lava Lakes > Soul Valleys
        -Polar Chasms will still be found in amongst Basalt deltas but are more common in nether wastes
      -With how the biome noise functions in-between or transitionary biomes are possible although would take a lot of number scrambling to get desirable results.
    -3 new biomes
      -The Lava Lakes are there to stand in for a proper 'ocean' biome in the nether
      -The Soul Sand Banks represent the 'beach' biome for the nether
      -The Polar Chasm is a direct idea rip from the Biomes O' Plenty mod for testing and fun. Very new to the concept pool so still needs work and polish
        -Adds the icy features from Ice Spikes, and Frozen oceans. Currently they don't spawn really at all. I've seen one iceberg so far
        -Some snow block and packed ice splotches
        -Strays spawn here
    -Replicated the new prototype caves but for the nether
    -Crimson and Warped Forests have a wart matt ceiling with weeping vines and shroomlight respectively. They imitate moss ceilings.
    -Crimson vines, twisting vines, the nether forest vegetation features all utilize the new mechanics now
    -Reshuffled the features within biomes to hopefully get better results with some placements
    -Altered all the spawn weights in each biome.
      -Blazes spawn in Basalt Deltas
      -Wither Skeletons Spawn in Soul Valleys
      -Endermites spawn in Warped Forests
      -Strays spawn in Polar Chasms
    -(dasabled atm) Added 'spawn costs' to all the hostile mobs and biomes (Not fully understanding how this affects actual gameplay yet)

    -A quick patch while I've been reworking the whole pack.

      -Changed the logical height from 128 up to 384 to match the overworld. I had initial lowered the height down in hopes that it makes for a slightly more stable nether. But I'm not certain if it has any effect. You'll be able to build above the nether ceiling once again.

      -Ancient Debre now replaces crimson/warped nylium, soul sand/soil, and gravel to compensate for the extra variations

    -Now as an aside, I've been tinkering for awhile on a rework of the datapack. I want to utilize the Y -64, and I've been getting decent results. It's only the entire nether generation moves with Y value and leaves empty space if you go out of roughly a 256 height range. It's "functional", but I'm still tinkering with it. It also perturbs lava lakes as having the lava height at 32 submerges any caver below 32 and down to -64. So either deep deep lava lakes, or another workaround.

    -I'm also retweaking each feature and each biome to get more preferable results. For instance most nether specific item spawns like the weeping vines has its own typing rather then a general ceiling thing like how the cave vines are. But since the weeping vines is technically hard coded, you can't change it's feature stuffs. So if I use the classic weeping vines feature the extra nether wart blocks that pop out with the vines don't occur unless there's netherrack, which is kinda the opposite of how I wanted the crimson forest ceiling.

    So yeah. Be on the look out for a major update of sorts in the future.

    3 problems with the datapack
    1. you cant bulid over the bedrock ceiling.
    2 Soul sand spawns at y 15 the best mine lvl for ancient debris making it alot harder to get.
    3 Delete the data pack and then the neder file dont work and if you do it you cant play on the world until the data pack is put back.

    I dont recomand this pack if you want a gold farm or ancient debris. Looks dop do

    I love your datapack! This is amazing! :D

    Some bugs:
    -In soul sand valley there appear pillars of bones with random blocks such as gold, shroomlight, warped and crimpon wart block and others.
    -Glow lichens appear in the nether.
    -Excess of weeping vines all over the nether.

    Suggestions; new biomes:
    -Add new cave variant: quartz caves. (This photo is from the mod Oh The Biomes You;ll Go).

    -Nether ship: the nether ship is located in lave lakes and it has good loot.

    -Fire temple: this structure is unusual but it is not very special. it has a little loot.

    I have crystal geodes spawning in the nether, is that intended in your datapack?



    if not, it might be a bug with the other terrain generation datapack i have installed for the overworld.

    It is intended for now. I'm not certain if I'll keep it as a feature or reserve it to certain biomes yet
