EDIT: Hi, this data pack is incredibly scuffed and was made as a self-challenge to recreate Chiseled Bookshelves less than 24 hours from when they were announced. Given that they became experimental in 1.19.3 and officially added in 1.20, this data pack obviously serves little to no purpose. Technically it'd serve a purpose in a version below 1.19.3, but honestly they're not very performant so I wouldn't bother.



Immediately after Minecraft Live, I began working on a Chiseled Bookshelves data pack. Now you can play around with Chiseled Bookshelves before anyone else!

Chiseled Bookshelves can store up to 6 books, and can output comparator signals that vary in strength depending on which book slot has been most recently interacted with. The side, top, and bottom textures are great for decoration.

4 Chiseled Bookshelves can be crafted with any 6 planks and 3 wooden slabs.

PS: If you're ACTUALLY trying to use a LOT of these for building, I'd suggest running a command to kill all villagers after you've placed your books in your shelves, because they're used for right-click detection and cause a lot of unnecessary lag if the blocks are purely aesthetic and aren't meant to be interacted with.
