Ender Carrots - Refreshments with a twist!

Java 1.17.1

Original Idea: MegaBubFish - www.youtube.com/channel/UC88se-gMLeCj_6NhnmcK9rg
Datapack & Resource pack author/designer: Swarmee - www.youtube.com/channel/UCrh_c61BDfosxMYrRboqsww

Before using this datapack + resource pack

Please note: This datapack uses the item ID for chorus fruit to which the customizations are applied, chorus fruit are still present and usable in your vanilla game, however your item statistics for "chorus fruit" will be inaccurate as the game will track each Ender Carrots eaten as a chorus fruit. ie: if you eat 50 chorus fruit and 50 ender carrots in your game, your item statistics will show "100" for the chorus fruit "times used" statistic.

The datapack & resource pack has not been tested on any version other than Java 1.17.1 but should work from Java version 1.13+ as there are only 3 basic commands used: 'execute as', scoreboard and effect.

Description

'Ender Carrots' is a custom item datapack & resource pack that adds a new food item into the vanilla game. The Datapack and Resource pack both are provided here on Planet Minecraft, click the "Download Datapack" button above to get the datapack, then the "Required Resource Pack" button below that to download the resource pack.

Lore

Is it a fruit or a vegetable?! Librarian scholars debate the topic to this day, and as yet no consensus has been reached. The best that Testificate and Human kind can do for now is compromise on a shared term with which to reference the rare treat: "Fruitable".

An interesting side note is that Librarians also cannot agree on whether the magical teleportation properties moves the individual eating the fruitable, or rather moves the entire universe around the individual; unfortunately, such high level physics debates are indeed difficult to carry out with rigor and determination when attendees to such discussions are restricted to such limited guttural speech patterns.

What Librarians have agreed upon is that Ender carrots are a cross-pollination of Chorus Fruit and Golden Carrots, and are the sole sustenance of the mysterious 'End' dimension dwelling race of Endermen. The magical properties of both progenitor plant species are present in the resulting produce giving the foodstuff quite unique properties.

The delectable treat can be obtained only by defeating an Enderman in combat, with the chance that the Enderman was carrying a snack being about the same that the poor chap also had a spare Ender Pearl or 2 (almost exactly a 1:1 ratio of carrots to pearls, even with looting). If an adventurer should happen to brave the vast and inhospitable End dimension to construct a sacrificial Ender-Ender monument, the food stuff can be easily farmed for a late game food source; or in an emergency, obtained as a snack for those arduous End Raids when naught else but Chorus Fruit can be scavenged.

Statistics & Properties

Extensive double-blind nitwit studies have concluded that Ender Carrots provide the following health and hunger boosts:

  • Health: 16 points (8 hearts if hunger is at 9.5 haunches)
  • Hunger: 8 points (4 haunches)

Alongside the aforementioned health benefits, the mystical Ender Carrot can also be eaten even if the consumer is not hungry! Despite the terrifying health concern this poses, it assures that maximum saturation levels can be achieved. However, all these great benefits come at the cost of a possible random teleportation event within an 8x8x8 cubic meter area; 9 out of 10 Librarians think it's a safe trade off*.

Installation

The Ender Carrots Resource & Datapacks are easily installed using the same methods as any other Datapack and/or resource pack installation:
  1. Download the Ender Carrots datapack from the Download link above the description, then download the resource pack from the Required Resource Pack link just below the Datapack Download button
  2. Once both the datapack and resource packs are downloaded, open your Minecraft installation directory (if you’re wanting to add the packs to a new world, create the new world first then save & quit the Minecraft client before proceeding).
  3. When you have the Minecraft installation directory open, copy the “Ender_Carrot (Resource Pack).zip” archive to your Resourcepacks directory, do not unzip it (you can rename the zip archive if you wish)
  4. Copy the “Ender_Carrot (Datapack).zip” archive to the save/world “Datapacks” directory for the intended specific save/world. Once copied, extract the datapack from the zip archive. The directory structure should be “.../Yourworld/datapacks/Ender_Carrots”. Move or Delete the “Ender_Carrots (extract me).zip" archive from the datapacks directory leaving the “Ender_Carrots” directory behind.
  5. Launch your Minecraft client and open the world you copied the resource and datapacks into, or if you already had the world open then open the chat window by pressing ‘T’ then use the command “/reload” without quotes to reload the datapack. Once your world is opened and/or reloaded, press ‘Esc’ to open the menu, then click Options > Resource Packs and locate the “Ender Carrots” resource pack and move it from the list on the left to the list on the right to enable it, then close the menu to reload the resource packs list and you're done!
  6. Note: The resource pack isn’t *required* to use the datapack, but it does make it look 1337% cooler!

Enjoy!
