This datapack adds 24 new generated structures to the game. No existing Minecraft structures are overwritten. These structures are designed to mimic the style of existing minecraft structures. Structures range from dungeons, houses, or purely aesthetic structures.

Hey!


I love your pack and have played with it in my world for a while now. But Since I've been playing for a while now I'd like some more variation. I'm not too good at reading or writing code tho. But I thought I'd give it a try and learn from your code. (I hope you're OK with that?)






I have some stuff that I was able to change. At some point I changed the dungeons that were added to coloured blocks. with numbers. I could only find a few tho. What is the most easy way to change the buildings and the way they spawn (hightwise for entrance purposes.)


And how can I check and change the biome they spawn in?






I'd love to learn from this pack and add some of my own nbt structures. I hope you're able to help me in any way! Thanks

I try to preload my world using worldborder with FS on 1.15.2 but the structures do not seem to generate, where if I roam manually they seem to work fine,

Is there an explaination for this/hove you encountered this?

The generator works off of player coords. The chunks have nothing to do with it. It marks chunks you've already explored so it wont overlap.

What is the frequency of structures? I have been flying around a world (sometimes in spectator, sometimes in creative) for a long while now and I've only seen one structure (I'd guess it was possibly the ancient crypt but I can't be sure, had a spider with some redstone in the basement - it's the structure from the first picture.

This datapack causes collision with cave biomes, which means that when I put this datapack on, cave biomes doesn't generate caves. Is there anything you can do to fix this?

Well that's unfortunate, the only way this could be fixed is if you either keep disabling and re-enabling cave biomes, or if you decided to use the utilities that the cave biomes developer has. That's unfortunate, I really loved your datapack. This is a big fuck moment.

I noticed an ice dungeon floating in the sky because of an overhang of a mountain with snow on top lol



BTW i haven't really used datapacks and want to understand, how do you make these .nbt files? and how can i open them to change them and save them again? I only use these structures on singleplayer and if i ever made a server i would credit you :D



If you could help me out that would be great because I want to make some of my own type of structures.



and also every cabin seems to spawn with a horse trapped underground dieing at the side of it

.nbt files are generated by structure blocks. The wiki can give you a really good rundown on how each structure mode works, but if you don't find it helpful, this tutorial is also good.

If you want to change the rarities of structures, that is controlled by the file 'data/fs/loot_tables/roomtype'. To make everything more common, edit the file, and hit crtl+f. Then change every instance of the number 600 with a lower number (300= 2x as common, 150= 4x as common, etc.).

Yooo.
I've been playing this game basically since it released and the worlds were like 30 blocks big lol. I stopped playing for a few years and came back, and while the game has some awesome updates, I was looking for more things to find when out exploring.

I use votans minimap and saw a weird circular object on it, and went over to check it out. (It ended up being nothing, a weird hole in the ground)
But on my way over something else popped up, a stone-brick structure, and at first I thought there was nothing special about it.

Edit: Oh, one last thing. I seem to see skeleton towers a lot, like I have 3 within a few hundred meters of spawn(my base) and only one had skeletons in it. Actually two had skeletons in it - but when I finally went to go do one of them, skeletons were gone. I guess they despawned?

then I saw the buttons and went inside....You bastard! lol. That was amazing though! Exactly the type of thing I'm looking for, and now I know to keep an eye out.

I haven't seen any desert temples in my new survival world yet - so I'm not sure if you changed anything with them, but based off your other comment it seems like you only added stuff and didn't mess with any other structures. I think more traps and stuff would be awesome. I've seen a few mods that have rare dungeons with decent loot inside - all that type of stuff would be great, unfortunately those were mods for forge, and I'm using fabric. I'd love to see those though.

I just hate seeing them be so easy and get loot, I found one data pack and you went down, there was a hallway lined with different spawners and chests past them full of loot, enchanted gear, diamond blocks. Like that's cool and all, but this needs to be the hardest fight in the game, otherwise it's just free loot and that's no fun. Especially when you can just run past and light up spawners as you go lol.

But yeah more traps and stuff, idk have a chest with some basic shit on top and a stairwell, lure people down with false hopes lol, then they step on one wrong thing and a rediculous amount of TnT blows up :p Silly things, maybe the whole ceiling opens up and lava pours out. Stuff that will definately kill them! Makes us have to be careful where we step.

Awesome datapack though, can't wait to see more as I explore, and what else you have to offer!

Is the detect function supposed to kill you? I am also not seeing the armor stands being spawned in the chat while opped, as is common with other generation-based datapacks. I have run the setup function. Am I missing something here?

If you want to see if armor stands are work as intended, do '/trigger showlog'. It will show you whenever you trigger an armorstand, which will show whenever it rolls to spawn a structure, and if the spawn conditions are met. If you still don't get anything, go into spectator mode so you can see the invisible armor stands. Also the detect function is a function ran by armorstands the gets run when a player gets close to it. This function kills the armor stand and spawns more in adjacent chunks.

I've been playing with this on my server, and I love some of these builds! Very cool treats to find. May I ask why it says you need to have render distance on Far? We've been playing with it on 7 chunks because I didn't see that message, but I'm wondering what the difference is!

It's mostly a safety net for the generator. You don't have to have it at 16 chunks, but it works best for the datapack. The reason being if the generator goes out of generated chunks, there's a chance it will despawn (even when persisted with commands). Personally I find it works with 10 chunk render distance, but I wanted to be safe.

Hey!

At one of my data packs I was notified it was not working. The guy sent me his world and I checked which data pack causes issue. One of the two was yours. You have a line in 'fs/_tick.mcfunction' which heavily conflicts with many-many data packs:

execute as @e[type=armor_stand,tag=new] at @s run kill @e[type=armor_stand,tag=!new]
You basically kill every armor stand that doesn't have the 'new' tag, which essentially ruins every other data pack that uses armor stands.

On other lines you use similar commands, like

execute as @a[tag=!spawngen,tag=!setupgen] at @s run function fs:tp
Which basically targets everything that is not specified (which can be a huge optimization spike and cause lag).

I suggest you to tag everything you need with unique tags (like fs_new, fs_setupgen, etc.. or something, as it's really easy to have conflict with other data packs that use similarly simple tag names like 'new'), and use the tags everywhere instead of applying any commands on everything that is NOT what you specified (or at least use the 'distance' argument to narrow things down), otherwise, well, you can ruin many other data packs and we cannot do anything against it as the issue comes from your code.

I didn't really check your files, but if possible, I recommend narrowing down the armor stands you want to destroy by defining the execution location with 'execute at' and applying the limit (with limit=1, or the number you know you want to destroy) and sort=nearest, or at least that's how I usually do it. :)

Because on anything lower, there's a chance the generator won't go into the unloaded chunks, causing the entire system to break. Around 15 is the minimum, but you can go higher.
