Data Pack Setup

Requirements
--------------------------------------------------
1) Single player or private multiplayer, at most 8 players
2) New world or played world
3) Console commands enabled
4) Command blocks enabled (if playing on server)

Installation
--------------------------------------------------
1) Download:
* Cobalt Core resource pack
* Cobalt Core data pack
* Feel The Curse data pack

2) Place the Cobalt Core resource pack files inside your Minecraft resourcepacks folder

3) Place both Cobalt Core and Feel The Curse data packs inside your world's datapacks folder

Configuration
--------------------------------------------------
1) Enable the resource pack from the game menu, should look like this:



2) If your world is already loaded, run the reload command:
/reload

3) Give yourself the "User Manual" with the command:
/function ftc:_give_user_manual

4) Navigate to section "4. Quick Start Guide" and click on:
[​/Inifialize FTC]

Player Registration

After FTC setup is done, the first time a player joins the game, he will be given an "Explorer's Survey" book.

This book allows the player to register and unregister for FTC as well as do some configurations.

Open the book and navigate trough the configuration pages

1) Player registration
Click "Yes" to register or "No" to unregister


2) Visual Effects configuration
Click "Yes" to enable VFX or "No" to disable VFX (enabled by default)



3) Sound Effects configuration
Click "Yes" to enable SFX or "No" to disable SFX (enabled by default)


4) Warnings Messages configuration
Click "Yes" to enable warning or "No" to disable warnings (enabled by default)

The Core Books

Core books are items that are given to the player trough a progression system, but can also be obtained by crafting.

There are 3 core books available in the data pack
* Explorer's Survey
* Explorer's Guide
* Unknown Author's Notebook

1) Explorer's Survey
- Is given to each player the first time they join the game after FTC has been configured
- Used to register and configure player for FTC
- Can be crafted using:
* Feather
* Ink Sac
* Paper


2) Explorer's Guide
- Can be obtained by opening (holding in hand and right clicking) a "Cave Pioneers Union Package" which is given to each player once during the morning
- Contains information about bells and whistles
- Can be crafted using:
* Book
* Empty Map


3) Unknown Author's Notebook
- Can be obtained by opening (holding in hand and right clicking) a "Ripped Open Package" which is given to each player once reaching layer 3 or below
- Contains information about cartridges
- Can be crafted using:
* Book and a Quill
* Ink Sac

Bells and Whistles

These are the current items in this category:
* Bell
* Red Whistle
* Blue Whistle
* Moon Whistle
* Black Whistle


Bell
- Currently has no functionality
- Required to get a Red Whistle
- Can be crafted using:
* String
* Coper Ingot


Whistles Guide
- Whistles can NOT be crafted, they can be upgraded.
- To upgrade a bell or a whistle, place the upgrade materials in your inventory, then hold Bell or Whistle you want to upgrade and right click

Red Whistle
- Functionality: While in inventory, strains of assent at The 1st Layer decreases twice as fast
- Core item: Bell
- Upgrade Materials: Name Tag, Redstone


Blue Whistle
- Functionality: While in inventory, strains of assent from The 1st Layer to The 3rd Layer decreases twice as fast
- Core item: Red Whistle
- Upgrade Materials: Name Tag, Lapiz Lazuli


Moon Whistle
- Functionality: While in inventory, strains of assent from The 1st Layer to The 5th Layer decreases twice as fast
- Core item: Blue Whistle
- Upgrade Materials: Name Tag, Amethyst Shard


Black Whistle
- Functionality: While in inventory, strains of assent from The 1st Layer to The 7th Layer decreases twice as fast
- Core item: Moon Whistle
- Upgrade Materials: Name Tag, Obsidian Block

Cartridges

Cartridges are items used to prevent the effects from the stage 3 of the curse (curse hit), they will NOT prevent effects from stages 1 and 2

! Cartridges will ONLY protect the player from the curse of layers 1 to 6, they will NOT protect the player from the curse of The 7th Layer


Crafting


To fill a cartridge:
1) Hold the cartridge in hand
2) Approach a baby non-hostile mob
3) Right click on the cartridge while standing close to the mob

- The mob is killed in the process
- Cartridges can hold up to 3 charges, a charge is used when a player is about to get hit by the stage 3 effects of the curse
- Bigger mobs will give more charges

Reliques

Reliques are items that can be found by mining blocks underground, these items have different effects upon use.

When a relique is collected, an advancement in "Reliques Collector" category is made, you can look at the advancement to learn about the relique.

- Reliques have different rarities, which are:
* Common
* Uncommon
* Rare
* Ultra-rare
* Legendary
- The deeper the layer, the better chances to get a rarer relique
- Legendary reliques can only be found at lower layers (4 - 7)

Overworld plants:
- All the reliques can be obtained by breaking these blocks below surface layer:
* Acacia Leaves
* Birch Leaves
* Fern
* Grass
* Jungle Leaves
* Large Fern
* Mangrove Leaves
* Oak Leaves
* Spruce Leaves
* Tall Grass
* Vine


Underground plants:
- All the reliques can be obtained by breaking these blocks below surface layer:
* Azalea Leaves
* Cave Vines
* Cave Vines Plant
* Flowering Azalea Leaves
* Glow Lichen
* Hanging Roots
* Small Dripleaf


Ores:
- Only some reliques can be obtained by breaking these blocks below surface layer:
* Amethyst Cluster
* Deepslate Diamond Ore
* Deepslate Emerald Ore
* Deepslate Lapis Ore
* Diamond Ore
* Emerald Ore
* Lapis Ore

Cleaning Reliques
--------------------------------------------------
Cleaning reliques is an additional feature that has no impact of any type at the moment, it's just a mechanic that removes the mud and moss from collected reliques.

To clean reliques:
1) Approach a block of water
2) Drop a single relique or a stack of reliques in to the water
3) Collect clean reliques

Hollows

Hollows are creatures that once were humans.

A human turns into a Hollow after being hit be the curse of The 6th Layer and will never be able to turn back into human.

However, in Minecraft you can turn back into human using a "Kernel Of Desires" which is a legendary relique that can be found in the lower layers (4 to 7).

Mechanics
- Once a player turns into a Hollow he won't be able to wear equipment as well as hold items in hands
- A player turned into a Hollow have constant saturation to prevent starvation
- A player turned into a Hollow gets negative effects suck as slowness, weakness and the inability to break blocks

If you turn into a Hollow you better have a "Kernel of Desires" unless you want to stay as a pack mule for ever......

You can use this command to turn back into human:
/function ftc:cmd/hollow/_de_hollowfy

Are ready to run commands, these can be safely executed by players to get items, turn into hollow or turn back into human

Bugs and Warnings

❗ Hollow entities are very performance intensive, NEVER HAVE MORE THAN 4 LOADED AT THE SAME TIME or the game will start to freeze.

❗ If you get hit by the curse of The 5th Layer, standing beside a solid block MAY KILL YOU BY SUFFOCATION IN THE WALL.

❗ After throwing a relique, some times items and blocks spawn one block above the landing point
