Required Resource Pack
204
Using a Cauldron to brew should be in Minecraft. I'm not even going to dignify this with a detailed description, this just should have been in Minecraft since they implemented the cauldron. Mojang dropped the ball on this.
Notes:
- The file downloaded CONTAINS the datapack. It is not the datapack itself.
- Potion Textures are disabled by default. This is to prevent the textures from being a necessary default which would limit accessibility.
- To enable textures you need to have the latest version of "Gen Resources" installed, then run the settings command
- You can toggle which potions are craftable in the Settings page
- You need to uninstall this datapack properly before you remove it.
- Works in 1.17 to 1.18
Cauldron:
- Throw a Blaze Rod then two Blaze Powder into a Cauldron. This is to make sure brewing this way isn't cheaper than regular brewing.
- Any Blaze Powder thrown in from that point will be stored as fuel. The Cauldron will bubble if water is present.
- Breaking or moving a Cauldron will return the Blaze Powder it stored as fuel, as well as the two initial Blaze Powder you added at the beginning.
- As you add your ingredients, particle swirls will pop up. If the color turns a sickly brown the potion has failed.- When you're done just throw in a Glass Bottle and your potion will be the result.
- If you throw a Potion back into a Cauldron you can continue to modify it. You can continue to add Potions back into the Cauldron as long as they're the same type.
- If your Cauldron has a Lingering Potion in it you're able to right-click it with an Arrow to get a Tipped Arrow

I actually tested it already, and it doesn't seem to function. I'm able to throw the blaze rod into the cauldron, aswell as the blaze powder to fuel it, but after that it refuses to accept a nether wart, or any ingredients besides random ones like gunpowder and dragons breath into it afterward. I was also having a texture issue with the "bubbles" indicating it is ready, but that may be a mistake on my part which I probably made installing the Resource Pack, but I'm not sure.
Hope it's not too much of a bother to fix eventually, thanks.
EDIT: So it seems that an issue was that two blaze powders was causing it to bug out somehow, but just one allowed me to start inserting ingredients. I can insert a nether wart, a sugar, and then attempt to throw a bottle in, but it will not finish the potion. And yes, I made sure all the potions were enabled with the /function settings command.
EDIT 2: So I got the textures mostly working after a reinstall, but now the color of the cauldron just appears as a floating piece of colored horse armor above the cauldron itself. Kinda funny, but didn't really fix anything
P.S. if it looks like horse armor it means the resourcepack isn't working anymore
