Gravestones adds a simple survival-friendly death recovery system to Minecraft Java Edition. When you die, your inventory is safely stored and a gravestone is created at your death location. After respawning, you receive a Grave Compass to guide you back. Return to your gravestone, interact with it, and recover your equipment.

🧭 HOW IT WORKS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
1. Die.
2. A gravestone is created at your death location.
3. Respawn and receive your Grave Compass.
4. Return to your gravestone.
5. Interact with the grave.
6. Your stored inventory is restored.

⚙️ INSTALLATION
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
1. Download Gravestones v1.0.
2. Open your Minecraft world folder.
3. Open the "datapacks" folder.
4. Place the Gravestones ZIP inside.
5. Enter the world and run: /reload

You should see:

IMPORTANT: Always back up an important Survival world before installing or updating any datapack.

Use the uninstall function before permanently removing the datapack.

⚠️ IMPORTANT
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Gravestones uses Minecraft's keep-inventory gamerule internally as part of its inventory storage system. The datapack manages this automatically while installed and restores the world's original setting when using the included uninstall function.

Do not manually change the keep-inventory gamerule while Gravestones is active.

💀 v1.0 LIMITATIONS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
This release focuses on reliable single-grave inventory recovery. It does not currently include multiple simultaneous graves per player, grave expiration timers, configurable grave limits, multiplayer ownership locks or player-specific grave protection.

These systems may be considered for future releases.

• Standard Survival deaths
• Hotbar and inventory items
• Armor and offhand items
• Original-slot restoration
• New items acquired before grave recovery
• Deaths near lava
• Nether deaths
• Save, quit and reload persistence
• Datapack uninstall and gamerule restoration

As with any datapack that handles player inventories, backing up important worlds is strongly recommended.
