    Harlequins

Harlequins is a datapack made in a week for the Imageination Jam.

This datapack only works in snapshot 24w21a or higher.

The theme for this jam, instead of a traditional text prompt, was an image. Specifically Two Harlequins by Salvador Dali:
    Two Harlequins

For Judges: To experience our pack, simply go to the end, kill the dragon, and enter the portal.

We suggest that you play through the datapack and experience it yourself before reading the rest of this description.

The datapack extends the end credits sequence to a series of interactive islands, ranging through the Minecraft versions. This was in part a tribute to Minecraft's 15th Anniversary.

    Inspiration

The duality of the two figures which dominate the painting inspired a duality of Minecraft, contrasting old and new. Also, the two statues in the painting correspond to the two beings talking in the end credits.

Additionally, the scene appeared to us to be the remains of a once rich and prosperous civilisation, which crumbled over time leaving only two statues to guard over the forgotten land. This gave us the idea to bring you through the Minecraft versions, evolving over time, and finally culminating in a grand city, which crumbles away as the player walks forward in time, leaving the player with an image resembling that of the painting, and completing the journey through time to gain a greater understanding of the Minecraft world.

This datapack was made by Gears and Moxvallix. Thanks to Wulfian for building the city, the final image, and writing the dialogue,

I really like this datapack, and I think it was a great experience, Thought I feel like there should have been a little more info/help for the versions, because there were some that i struggled on. The entire idea of expanding the credits scene, and the going throught the different Mc versions was really cool, thought i feel like the image was not really incorporated, apart from the final moment (thought that might be just my opinion). The only thing i didn't like, was the player not being able to exit the dimension, unless they completed it.

Honestly a pretty cool datapack. Being teleported to a separate, pre-built world is something I never thought I'd experience in a datapack, but am glad I did. The concept as a whole is done very well, especially the different eras of Minecraft. And I also like the incorporation of the inspiration image into the ending. (I also think that blocking spiriting in the alpha section is a nice touch) Now, that being said, I did have a few issues. First, I didn't have to kill the ender dragon to enter the special part. As soon as I entered the End, I was shown the fake end credits scene (which is pretty cool btw), but it did confuse me quite a bit. The second thing, and I know that you can't do much about this, but the custom blocks all dripping water threw me for quite a loop. (Also, being soft-locked in the dimension isn't great)

This isn't an issue with the pack itself, but I am horrible at puzzles. I did the first one no problem. The second one I eventually gave up on and teleported to the other side of the wall. On the third one, I almost gave up, but after looking around I saw the jump I was looking for and I got the wings. On the last one, however, I was completely lost. I was probably just being stupid, but I eventually just teleported into the underground hallway. (None of this is gonna dock you, btw, just thought I should mention)

    Solution to puzzle 2:
Ride a pig. There are saddles in the chest. Pig walks itself through the hole.

    Solution to puzzle 3:
Take the Dinnerbone nametag and 4 seeds from
the chest minecart. Name the villager. You can now trade with him for a bottle. Use the bottle on the beehive and drink the honey.

That makes more sense. This does mean I found a bug, however. I looted the chest on the second puzzle and was running around and fell into the void. When I respawned I didn't have any of my loot that I had got from the chest. So I guess I softlocked myself? I think the same thing happened with puzzle 3, but I don't remember as well.

Extending the end credits is a very unique idea
