    Bigger Trees for Minecraft!

A quick datapack that I've created to increase the tree heights of most trees in vanilla Minecraft. All trees retain their vanilla appearance except their heights are doubled or even more!

Heightened was pretty much inspired by a concept art from Mojang (more on that below), and also by one my favorite Forge mods called "Dynamic Trees". Heightened's vision is to create a complement to the sense of scale that the 1.18 update introduced to Minecraft's world generation. It's goal is simple, make the trees look bigger and retain vanilla's aesthetic, giving a different atmosphere to its forest. "Larger and grander!" is the thing in my mind will configuring this datapack.

The new Birch Forest concept art.
My inspiration for this idea, Mojang's own concept art for their Birch Forest!

    FAQs

Q: Help! I can''t chop all the wood!
A: I would definitely install a tree chopping mod/datapack. It's a tradeoff between aesthetic and game design.

Q: Will this mod be backported for 1.16.5?
A: No. I have no plans currently to do that.

Q: The new trees don't appear from saplings!
A: This is a limitation on my end and I'm unable to solve it for now. I've yet to see a datapack that does this, therefore I have no references currently to implement this.

I'm still learning how to make datapacks like this and was wondering, is there a way to do something like this for cactus & sugarcane/reeds? I've always felt they should be a little bit taller or have random heights like kelp (maybe 3-to-5 or -6 blocks tall.

Anyway I'm really enjoying this datapack after testing & using it now in my 1.19 private server! I play with large biomes, and the taller trees seem to fit very well aesthetically with the larger biomes. Great work, thanks!

It seems to still be compatible with 1.19. The 1.18 version is working great for me in 1.19 so far. Im sure there are some tweaks to be made for 1.19 but try it on a test world. I'm using it in my private 1.19 server and love it!

I think the idea is great! It works miracles in Vanilla and I enjoyed playing a lot more, especially while riding a horse. Unfortunately it seems that this pack is incompatible with Biomes o'Plenty, because for me the modded biomes generated as void chunks.

Hmmm. I'm currently playing my personal modpack with Biomes o' Plenty + Heightened - Subtle and it's compatible. I also doubt that Heightened would cause voidchunks as it only modifies tree gen of vanilla biomes. What version are you using?

Sorry, I take it back! It works fine, it was just a loading issue. I had to figure it out for two days, but it works just fine :)

So good! Really hope Mojang finally adds more height variation in trees or make trees taller in general. It really adds the immersion that they were going for.
