This is the Monster Cards data pack, and it's final Version, updated to 1.16!
This data pack introduces a completely new combat mechanic to the game, card battles!
To start off, drop one iron ingot and a crafting table together on the floor to recieve the shop. From there you can get the "Index", an item used to store your "deck" as well as the cards! To get the cards, simplly exchange iron, gold, diamonds or nether stars for crystals, with which you can purchase packs to randomly recieve cards. To add cards to your deck, drop an index on top of an crafting table to convert it into an inserter. Now drop the index on top of the inserter and then add the cards you'd like (Up to 5 cards per index).
To begin your fight, simply right click the index while standing on the ground and all the stored cards will be deployed. Next, lure mobs to come close to the deployed units. Once there are as many mobs in the area as there are cards in your index, the battle will start. Each unit/mob has three skills which you can choose from, excluding passive skills. The choices appear behind the unit which's turn it is. The bottom button is the first skill, the middle the second and so on. The top most button, a blue one, is used to swap the position of two units. At the place where the index was activated, you find the surrender button. All buttons must be pressed twice. When using the second or third skill of a unit, the cooldown of the second or third skill of the units next to it will increase by one, so choose wisely!
There is also PvP, if you want to fight your friends! To do so, both players have to have an index. Make sure thhat no other mobs are close by, as they have priority over PvP! The first player has to normally deploy his index. The second, however, needs to drop his index on a spot in front of the first player's units, as indicated by blue-ish particles. It is random which player starts first! Both players are in the end required to pickup their index again to be able to start a new battle!
Do NOT drop an index to start PvP if you are alone and want to test out a deck, under no circumstances!!!
When you are defeated, you die, when you win, you don't. After having won or being defeated, you have to pick up the index again, before you can start a new battle. To do so, right click with the empty index close to the place it was originally placed down (As indicated by green particles).
You can't pick up the index while in battle. Defeated cards are destroyed, so be careful. Also, not all mobs have cards, keep that in mind, and there are 48 cards in total.
