IMPORTNAT: The direct download button will download the latest version, which will only work for 1.20.X. To use the data pack in 1.16.X - 1.19.X, click the "Download Previous Versions" button, scroll down and follow the instructions.

This data pack was requested by _Bluejay.
This data pack allows you to enchant a player's hands with silk touch. A player with silky hands is always considered as if they had silk touch, and everything they break is dropped as if they mined it with silk touch - including stone, ores, glass and basically everything. You still have to use the right tool to get the block - for example, if you mine a diamond ore using a stone pickaxe, a wooden pickaxe or your bare hands, you will still gain nothing.

How to use

To enchant a player with silk touch, run the following command (you need cheats on. You can also use @s as <player> to enchant yourself):
/tag <player> add silky_handsFor example, to enchant the player one_nose with silk touch:
/tag one_nose add silky_handsTo remove silk touch from a player:
/tag <player> remove silky_handsTo choose all players use @a, for example, to enchant all players with silk touch:
/tag @a add silky_handsYou can make a player only have silk touch if they use their bare hands or a silk touch tool. Such player would only have silk touch if they hold nothing. This does not allow one to mine with their bare hands blocks that generally cannot be mined without a tool (e.g. stone, ores).
/tag <player> add silky_hands_bare

when I break stone, I don't get anything. It works on glass, leaves and grass but not stone

It only works if you are holding a valid tool. To get stone, you still have to break it using a pickaxe. The difference is you will get stone instead of cobblestone even if the pickaxe is not enchanted.

Will there be a new version? Because the latest one doesn't work.

After you made this comment I started working on a new version... and I might have just released nine instead. Needless to say, none of them were tested.

i love this datapack but is there any way you can fix the leaf problem? when the leaves decay, or when my friends (who dont have the silk touch) break leaves, they drop full leaf blocks instead of sticks or saplings.

I can't test it right now, but I checked the code and it looks fine. Are you sure the problem is specifically with leaves?

i might've installed the datapack wrong, but so far everything seems okay besides the leaves. with the pack on, the leaves will decay and drop as the block itself, but without the pack they're completely normal, if that makes sense

It does, except it shouldn't be that way (obviously). Basically what I want to know is if there is any block that does know who breaks it? For example, if you mine stone I assume you get stone, but if your friends do do they get stone or cobblestone? Clearly they are supposed to get cobblestone, but if they get stone that means the issue is not specifically with the leaves but in some other place. Again, I currently can't test it myself but if I'll be able soon I will.

everything else is right, if i mine stone i get stone but if my friends mine stone they get cobblestone and so on. leaves seem to be the only block that has this issue. also, no worries about not being able to test it right away
