    After searching for spawner crafting recipes, all I found were spawners without the mobs inside. You either needed to use spawn eggs on them or just leave them as pig spawners. What I did was make a crafting recipe that includes the mob inside! You no longer need to use eggs to change from pig spawners.

    Use a mob head surrounded by iron bars to craft a spawner.

    The default datapack only includes Zombies and Skeletons, like vanilla Minecraft. However, the extended version allows you to craft Wither Skeleton and Creeper spawners with their respective heads. (And no, I did not add Ender Dragon or Steve spawners.)

    Spawners no longer change to pig spawners when placed in survival.

    Redownload this pack if you are going to use this in survival (you probably are).

    I'm not at home to check, but didn't Mojang change it a while ago so that when you're in Survival if you place a spawner (even a custom one with a Zombie in it) it will become a pig spawner
    I can't see anywhere in your code that modifies the spawner when placed into the Zombie or Skeleton.

    Like I say I could be wrong as I'm not at my PC to check but you may want to try the pack in Survival (maybe single player with no mods) and see if it works as you're expecting

    Do we need to have the default version installed for the extended version to work?
    Just the extended version doesn't work for me I can craft the spawner's but nothing spawns.
    I'm playing on mc 1.17

    The extended version works on its own. I have tested the pack and it works perfectly in 1.18.

    Just to make sure, did you type /reload?

    Yes I tried, but it still doesn't work as I said I'm using i on 1.17 not 1.18. Have you tried it in 1.17?
