no kidding though, thank you for bringing me back to good-ole days!
startermap.json have reward for function map:load, I guess you can fix if you change to map:givemap
givemap.mcfunction have [give @a map], but how about using @s instead of @a?
when I use this datapack at my realm server, I got empty map when I connect, and I got a empty map again when my friend connect. so I guess this datapack gives empty map multiple time to one user whenever someone connet to server first time.
I think this little problem will be fixed if use @s instead of @a.
