Have something to say?
Custom materials were causing a lot of confusion for most newer players, plus made half the trims clearly stronger than the other half and made realms compatibility closer to impossible since a quarter of the pack was gated behind a feature realms cannot use, let alone the only incompatibility with any other pack that adds custom trims and a fair bit of resource pack space.
There's an "upcoming" channel in the Discord, but I do plan to eventually add back custom materials and have it primarily upgrade the trim without needing to apply it to armor (the main issue), while letting armor application be optional for additional visuals.
Wouldn't be too hard to make a simple addon if you just wanted the additional cosmetics, which other packs could supplement.
I may consider optionally adding abilities to the templates added by other datapacks (such as "Tool Trim's - Frost"), but compatibility would be hard and add a lot of code for something very few use.
Regarding advancements (objectives?) and performance, I really doubt Trims Overhaul can be causing any noticeable lag on the current versions. If you'd like I can help diagnose the primary source of lag over on Discord
I can add 26.1.2 support to your 1.20 resourcepack if needed
