Hi I've been stuck for ideas on what to build recently and I was wondering if you guys could help me out by dropping a comment and giving any suggestions you have!

How do you "level up" on PMC. You know under the username? just curious.

Try to be imaginative and think outside the box. Build a city in tall mountains with bridges connecting them with houses and buildings everywhere. Generic but somewhere to start.
What I typically do is make modern houses or just normal houses. (that are big)
Look up floor plans on google images. I use square feet for blocks, it actually works really well ^_^

Ya, and then you could decorate a huge yard around the house with the 1.7 flowers (and add a pool, maybe!). You could also make a line of pixel-art mobs (with your own thing, like sunglasses on the villager and a tuxedo on a creeper!). That's always a boredom-killer for me!
