Looking for help getting better at building...
Basically what it says in the title, I used to be quite good at building, went off minecraft a bit and really stopped playing creative almost entirely for several months and now I'm trying to get back into building and would like some help learning things again.
I would also appreciate resource pack suggestions for different build themes, mods that help with taking nice screenshots (I have SEUS already) and some tips on making nicer looking posts for PMC.

I think the roof could use some more block variation. Try adding in some wood slabs/stairs to break up the stone a bit.
So I've just been working on this for about an hour (maybe closer to 50 mins since I was also working on other things at the same time). What do you guys think? any tips on how to improve the design or other features to add?

Glad I could help!
Thanks, your guide on layering was really helpful and I will probably use your tips on roofing in a future build with some slight adjustments to fit my personal preferance on roofing.
I wrote a guide that might have what you're looking for. If there's something you'd like help with that isn't mentioned there I'll provide advice/suggestions for that as well.

I'm mostly looking to improve on building fantasy/medieval styled projects. I am okay at the actual individual buildings but I would really like to improve at building scenery and other things like that (bridges, trees, gardens, small boats, etc.)
I suppose I might be able help you, but I don't necessarily know from which point of "help" you are looking for.
To begin with, What kind of builder are you wanting to go for? Which architectural design do you prefer to be able to do? Etc.

looking at your profile you are good at building landscapes with detail, but your attempt at modern building is bland
i"d say stick with landscapes for a while, get into it again, and then approach modern building from an organic terraforming perspective, working with shapes mainly
and when that looks good you can try minimalist buildings, but remember that for those materials are the important thing. use ones that fit their purpose and contrast each other nicely

Any help is good help even if its just a little, thank you for the advice and also i really love some of the textures in that pack. I especially like the different fences and the rails, thank you for the suggestion.
What I would usually do (And i'm no professional either) is aim for layers. Just layer your house with different blocks to add depth (That probably didn't help lol) (Pretty much do what you were doing in your other builds)
This seems like a good place to learn how to take better screenshots: http://www.planetminecraft.com/blog/how ... -tutorial/
A nice resource pack that I like using: http://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_ ... ture-pack/
