I am looking with a team to completely rewrite Minecraft. We would be adding all kinds of features from all the popular mods, texture-packs and plugins. This would be an entirely separate game, i.e not a mod! Now we have started development. Now of course as I said I would need a team for support. I am looking for people who would be dedicated to this project and wouldn't give up. Now the positions I am looking fore are (Red means very important, Blue means desperately need and a hyphen means I have one however it doesn't mean I am not still looking):

Yeah i know, one of the things which killed Phex for me was that they seem to be using (lots of) Minecrafts files.

You want to re write minecraft?
For this to be a seperate game without breaking copyright you would have to start from scratch, Without the use of MCP or already decompiled files fro minecraft.

These guys had at least a dozen people in their core group and they were asking for donations yet all they managed to produce were some half-written java classes.
In less than a month i was able to come-up with this from scratch by myself. ( plus the files and classes are all original; as opposed to just copied and pasted in from Minecraft.. Phex )
If anyone is serious about contributing too or even just discussing a community made Minecraft ( or Minecraft - Like ) client - please, let me know.

To my knowledge, this project is still active. Therefore this thread is still needed. Necroposting is mainly a concern when the topic of the thread is no longer relevant.

First of all, aren't I one of your webmasters? Second of all, I wrote a story for the game.

actually we havent got a story agreed on and decided. What you did was come up with and idea then organise some people to create art and a whole world for it(which is impressive).
Im simply saying this to tell you that nothing is set in stone at this point and any ideas for the project, no matter how developed, are simply that. Ideas. Anyway continue the good work.
p.s loothed could you get back to me with the website i should link people to for advertising and also if you have any screen shots or anything i could include then that would be appreciated. also what am i gonna be advertising for? people to help out, orpeople to support the game and play it when its done.
p.p.s also if we want any of this to be private. and if we want to move production along then we should move to something like skype or the phex forum.

This project is not dead, I still want it worked on. Currently I am raising funds to pay for a proffesional developer, as the Devs we have now haven't really started which is probably my fault.

Urm, sorry to let you down here, but hiring a professional developer costs a fortune. Thousands, literally. I'd stick to these guys, not only are they loyal to you, they will never leak information. Trust me. Please. I would be willing to work, but firs I want to ask some questions.
1) Why use Minecrafts coding?
