I know everyone is different and all but I don't get how one can be attracted or find illustrated or even realistically rendered characters hot, sexy, etc. I find that gross tbh. I don't know why nor am I judging anyone. It's just my opinion.

Don't think of it as say, being attracted as in real life to someone. Think of it as...liking a piece of art for example. You can say you like a painting, a video, a song, etc. Same can be said for this.

Yeah, I understand that, but you do get those 'creeps' who find those images sexually attractive. Now, that is weird.
There's always the extremes. If we're going to those kinds of extremes, then yeah that's pretty creepy. But if we're talking about just a slight "crush", there's very little wrong in that. It is kinda like when you wanted to be Superman as a kid, despite the fact that it is impossible. Usually, a "crush" on a fictional character is just like that, the desire for something that isn't really real, but that's not stopping you from wanting it right? Of course, in order to not become said weirdo you do have to slap yourself mentally and say "Stop daydreaming about fictional characters and get back to reality." once in a while, but as long as you're not going to said extremes, it isn't that unusual.

Anyways, my gaming crush never came directly from a video game- Well, technically he did, but there aren't really any characters in Minecraft, are there? I went onto a random and low-populated Minecraft server (maybe 4 people popped on in a single day) and stayed there for a good long while, learning how to play Minecraft well. After about a month of this, the owner of the server (who to this day still wears a DJPon3 skin with a cape on it) noticed me and we started talking more and more.
After that server was lost, he even showed me a much larger server that he'd been invited to build on. To this day I still play on that server, and even though the boy doesn't play Minecraft (or even go on the internet) much anymore, we've become fantastic friends over the past 3-ish years (wow, it's been so long o-o). I've even developed a crush on him in the past few months, but I guess that was a given because he's such a nice person.
