Be careful when getting on planetminecraft or minecraftfourm
the minecraft forums ends with a .net! NOT A .COM!! planetminecraft is .com NOT .NET!! I hope I didn't just get a virus from trying to get on to the mc fourms. I'm just saying always be careful. It's probably best to just search it up on your search engine.

I doubt you have a virus (though, you should scan your computer with an anti-virus program just in case).

However, there are sites out there that have have the same names as popular ones only with common misspellings. That way, when people type in a url and make a mistake, they are taken to the possibly malware-infested site instead.

Yeah, like the google one, that had one 'o' missing and when you went to it, it would crash your computer (it's quite old)

Nothing can download to your computer unless you give it permission. I don't think javascript can download anything either.

Oh. So why do you have to be careful when visiting a website?

I'm not, and I DON'T because the laptop is freaking new.

Wait, this doesn't make any sense.

Someone who wanted to know more about the site would Google it or the like, and anyone familiar with it would know how to spell it.

Hey btw, minecraftfourm is completely different then minecraftforum. Minecraftfourm(.com) redirected me to a completely different website, so I guess that's what you visited

What did it take you to? Mine took me to some weird navy blue screen with gibberish and a pop-up "page at chrome says:I FORGOT WHAT IS SAID BUT IT WAS IN CAPS AND ASKED FOR SOMETHING". When that happened, some woman's voice said something, like "PLEASE SOMETHING SOMETHING SOMTHING"

Well, some ads can contain scripts that could do that.

Also,

(WOT isn't the best website rating add-on but it's okay)

And can't sites like when you press on them download something ? I thought so, does that mean you can go on ANY site and not get a virus?

That's not always true. There are certain sites that when you click on them automatically download a file (think download sites, but there are also malicious ones). However, if you do download a malicious file do NOT open it - the best thing to do is delete it and then empty your recycle bin just to be rid of it and make sure you never accidentally click it and install whatever is inside (if it ends in .scr, for example, it probably is a Trojan).

what does scr stand for?

You would think that it stands for screenshot or screensaver (which makes sense, as usually it's sent in link context as "hey, look at this nice screenshot I made, you want to see more?" or something similar), but it actually stands for script.

I was wrong, you can get one, but it's almost impossible with modern browsers. Mostly what you get is adware, and stuff like that, but even then it's hard to get that. Chrome will block most stuff that'll try to come through.

My bad, lol. Sites would send stuff in the background to your browser, which in turn would download it, but it's done differently now.

What? You neither of those sites are "infested"? Even if they were, you wouldn't get a virus from it. You'd have to download something, and give it access to your computer. planetminecraft.net isn't even a real site, and minecraftforum.com doesn't look anything like the real one.

Planetminecraft.net

minecraftforum.com
