Which do you prefer? Windows or Linux?
I prefer Ubuntu because it is free and excellent for programming. It also runs better on less powerful machines, and is very lightweight compared to Windows, where Windows is bloated, with too much crap running in the background. Ubuntu cuts to the basics; It has fewer useless things, in short.
(Mac is not an option! DO NOT SAY MAC! *cringes*)

I definitely use Windows 7 more than I do Ubuntu but I really enjoy the benefits of both. Also, props to not adding Macs to the mix since technically they're just a derivation of Linux

The only reason there is macs and all that stuff is because of Linux and Windows also Apple get most of their money since they just sell the things you need with a different make. e.g. Iphone 5 charger

In my opinion different computers are used for different things
Mac: Work, School and a bit gaming (More people are now making for MAC )
Also, a great thing to use on the INTERENT!

Mac is a computer, not an operating system. You can not compare it to Windows or Linux

I Use both, Since i use DigitalBox or whatever, i can run around 30+ OS's without even buying a new computer.

Thanks for not adding macs to the mix because most computer techs will probably agree that Apple is stupid because of there operating system is pretty much a locked cabinent that nothing can happen. I agree linux for hosting things windows for gaming so really dual booting is the way to go

I don't think it is a big deal if they are running off the same kernel, they are two different operating sytems in essence, and i feel like Apple is total crap. That doesn't mean Linux is crap as well. The internet is 90% Linux web servers (guessing), so Linux is not some failed OS. Also,

You should have a look at Arch Linux and especially Linux Mint. Also I 100% agree that apple should not even be a consideration.
I feel like there's always a hacky way to do something on Linux even if its directly made for Windows, but if you are playing games on steam and things other then Minecraft you might want a dual boot with Windows and Linux.
I like Windows 7 for gaming, but when I use the Terminal application on Ubuntu (I like the command line stuff :3 )

I've heard Windows 8 sucks. No offense if you like it, and it isn't my opinion.
People who hate the Modern interface just didn't spend enough time with it, probably had it for 20 minutes and never even got used to how useful it is. Sure it was built for tablets, but who cares? It's not like it's any different from clicking icons on a desktop, just those icons are larger and have their own dedicated space. Windows 8 has a large performance boost from 7 and if you honestly don't like it for whatever reason, then that is your opinion, there is a learning curve, but once you spend the time it will be worth it.
I personally haven't tried windows 8, but I've heard a rumor that it's using a snippet of a linux kernel, but I don't think it's reliable.
I'm still rocking 7. I wouldn't mind 8, but I have a feeling my parents would make me sleep outside.

Because Vista was a terrible mistake in a microsoft industry. It had too much bugs, it needs more power to run, injurable to viruses and more other stuff. Windows xp and Windows 7 are the best of microsoft systems. I'm myself using Windows 7 and I have computers with Windows Xp, Windows Vista and Linux. I have been using windows too much, that I prefer it than others. Everyone of them got own prefences, expect IOS (Apple). It's closed from editing, don't got that much features and costs too much if you check what it really contains. It's more for drawing,photoshopping,mixing,surfing on a forums,facebook. Windows is for everything, you can do all that stuff what you wanna with it, but yeah it got a lot of shit running in background which isn't running in Linux.Linux is more for programming,coding.

If you really need proof I can give it to you, but in the past I've found $700 PC laptops with better specs than the $2100 MacBook Pro. Its like paying triple for the bad OS that comes with it.
