Wow 3 DDoS comments, people quit being paranoid. JUST because the servers are down, doesn't mean that the servers are being DDoSed. Granted, this hasn't happened in a while, but it's probably NOT a DDoS attack. The cause is server instability. If Mojang was being DDoSed then they would know, and most likley state it. What I would do is just not log in for a bit, possibly the entire day. This happens every once in awhile. Just stop it... You paranoid people!

Minecraft servers are down, but I play offline anyway
It looks like they add network issues, but the servers weren't down the other day. Maybe the start of the DDoS or big network issues.
Lets see how this goes..

I believe that might be it. I mean why else would it happen? System Fail. XD it's like the FBI shut down their servers for to many negative ragers and hackers XD

Haha no its not. There is no way someone could get there servers down with DDoS. There is one way though. If someone with a huge Botnet attacks Mojang there screwed. Doesnt matter how strong your servers are, how strong your internet is, how stable your servers are. If that happens your dead. But if that would've happend i'm almost sure we would be notified by that
Lol? Normally when people DDoS they are using a huge network of bots etc. to send out all the connections anyway.. And if they were being attacked etc., why would they tell us that? Why would they want us to be worried..?
i hope they arnt if they are it may take a looooooong time for servers to be back up
