Kill the enderdragon. Or u play soo long that one time when u wake up u dont wanna play it in case of too much blocks
Well all I did was i started going outside more and hanging out with mah friends and we always played baseball, soccer, and football. Now I really don't go on Minecraft anymore I just play soccer and football (I'm a quarterback ). I have a really hot girlfriend and we live together in my apartment I have a job now and I rarely go on the computer I was a Minecraft freak until I went outside I haven't played Minecraft since I was 10 I'm 19 right now. So really all you have to do is just go outside or read a book etc.
So I hoped my advice helped you if it didn't sorry but it worked for me

Skipso, yes I like it. And I agree with Peaches. The first three books are short-ish (400-500 pages), but the ones after that are pretty decently long.
Again: read harry potter, it's addicting and the books are long. Like 870 pages.
Well to be 100% honest minecraft has effected my life drastically! Most of what effected me was good. Such as i get less stressed out and can talk to friends about what i did in minecraft and that could improve your social life. The only bad thing about minecraft is that it has become a big part of my life since i got it. That is good and bad in many ways. Minecraft has effected my grades, but only by like 3% but that could just be me. Also minecraft has made me a nerd; which isn't bad at all cause i love being smart . Anyways if you really want to get off your minecraft addiction follow these steps:
1. the first day play it as long as possible.
2.the second day play half the time you did the last
3.the 3rd day keep cutting your time in half until you have nothing.
4. Then after about a month think to yourself about if you should keep playing minecraft or improve your grades; or even do both.
5. Dont in force these on to your self or you want get over your addiction
6. Try to let yourself down easy not too hard
Please tell me if these help you in any way.

This is what I do:
For everyday I don't play Minecraft I get credits with my parents, once I earn 15 credits I can buy a book on iBooks, and read it (to take up another 15 days) Once you like to read, found a good series and are enjoying life, throw Minecraft in the mix.
Keep it limited 1-1 1/2 hours/day.
I also recommend the Percy Jackson Series, or Diary of a Wimpy kid:)

Engage in something else that makes you feel busy.
Starts thread about being addicted but probably just wants a bunch of posts well played. well played.

I suggest trying to ignore Minecraft in general. Put it in the Trash/Recycle bin, and take it back out when you think you can control yourself.
I say...
Do all your homework, Read a book for at least 15 minutes,
then go onto the computer and play minecraft.
(all though sometimes i dont take my own advice.)

TheAlmightyLemonarrodarStep 1: Acquire moderately good social status
Step 2: Get girfriend
Step 3: Quite often, you will end up spending time together and away from the computer
Step 4, most important: MAKE SURE SHE DOES NOT JOIN YOU IN THIS GAME UNTIL YOU CAN CONTROL YOURSELF.
so true lol she will get mad at you for spending your time on the game then in real life if you cant control yourself, and you will be playing with her digitally for hours and never see her in real life either!
Such bitter irony, I used this tactic IRL...

What about the people who cannot acquire a girlfriend. Like me.
Depends. How old you are, what (and who) you're interested in, possibly anyone you have a "crush" or whatever on, stuff like that. Each person has an individual situation.
i had the same problem, just try doing something else (skateboarding and other games now take up most of my free time) i read a lot now too, i wasnt that addicted though but i would spend hours on the game at one time. now i play RotMG i am COMPLETELY addicted to it and i also play DDO and Minecraft, every once and awhile take a break and eat something and relax, watch some tv play some football or something and just shut the game down :p
tips:
1. Limit yourself, set a schedule where you play like 30 mins, then 45, then 1 hour once you get better at getting off on time.
2. Set a goal in the game for a day such as mine 2 stacks of iron ore or get 3 stacks of planks, then get off for the day or wait a certain amount of time before getting back on.
3. Do something boring so you want to get off :p
4. Use these tips, they help

Not to sound mean but, You need to grow up a bit. Playing minecraft does not in any way have anything to do with you ruining your life. If you know you are failing school because you don't manage your time well, that is not minecraft's fault. You know that school is more important so make minecraft a reward for passing school so you can do good in school and not have to give up something you like to do. But sweetie don't stress out, If you do that, It causes more bad then good. Stay calm, do your class work and play games on the weekends. I'm sure that if you try you can be as good as new. I believe in you. ^^
Skipso, your avatar... is it Phoenix Wright as a teenager?
Hell yeah. You like it? Phoenix Wright is amazing.
Luckily for you, I've had the exact same problem (and I still have it occasionally)
Set a time schedule and stick to playing it for that set time.
It won't be easy at first, but if you find something else to do in your spare time, you'll gradually feel less and less attached to the game.
Example: Set a schedule to play Minecraft for maybe 2 hours a day. And only two.
Don't go over, and don't waste that time. Do what you can with it.
Or, option B: Delete the game.
Either way, you may eventually get bored of it.

You dont have good moderation skills, take care of school, school is #1 of importance, then play Minecraft
Give away your account to a friend.

Well the thing is your really addicted so to fix it just push yourself to do your homework first. So tell your parents to lock up your computer until you have studied and finished your assignments and if its become to extreme have your parents discuss with your teachers to have them write down your assignment on paper and then they sign it. That way you bring it home and your parents make sure its done. A friend of mine did this and their grades have jumped. So you can still play just dont let it control your life. Balance it out. You may be mad at first but it helps. Trust me. Hang in there! sincerely -zmann98
Read Harry Potter. Or just delete Minecraft!

You have an addictive personality, it seems. What else do you enjoy doing when not playing Minecraft? Try to balance playing Minecraft with doing other constructive things.
If you love building in Minecraft, then buy the Minecraft lego set and have fun. If you like the adventure aspect, maybe you should learn animation with Mineimator (free) and Cinmena 4D. Write fan fiction about Minecraft, maybe.
And also, try playing Minecraft less and less each day. At first, play for like 4 hours to relieve the urge. The next day, play for 3 hours and 30 minutes. The day after that, try playing for only 3 hours.
In time, you will feel yourself wanting to play Minecraft lesser and lesser, until you are not addicted and simply enjoy playing on occasion. Either of these tactics will slowly make the addiction go away. It takes time, but this is worth getting your life back on track.
80% of PMC users have the same problem!
bump
How long have you been playing? When I started I was addicted 24/7 for 3 days. Then I was able to slow down. One solution if you play on a server is to have them temp ban you. I temp ban myself a lot. It helps if all your builds are on a server. Then you can just have the server admin temp ban you when it comes time to do homework.
i do this. get into a book series then read the whole series. but my trouble was the book had stuff like zombies in. minecraft... so i go to %appdata% get .minecraft and move to recycle bin and clear recycle bin. then two days later i block minecraft.net!
It worked ``till i got my new laptop!

Change your password to something random.
Ok, this has happened to me, step one, Eat a healthy snack. Step two, do your homework and study. Step three, Read. And step four, Now you can play.

I was hooked on minecraft until I found a simple way to fix it. All you have to do is don't touch you computer for three days then do some reading also you can do something else then play minecraft and that is make a file, fill it will stuff then put minecraft in it and make sure minecraft is the last you put in. Worked for me.
Lol a simple fix would be to use Minecraft as a reward for your doing homework, or reading, ect., .
This. You want to feel as if Minecraft is a sweet reward and soon you will feel the urge not to over indulge.
Yes, could also work. I'd support that
Bump post, quite interested in this
You know, sometimes i get bored and im like: "I should be like the olde me, playing with my friends outside untill 10 PM and listet dubstep and heavy metal all the day" . But then i remember that my friends are on the internet, waiting for me to do shtuff.
Me and my friends were the awesome rebel dudes, but then something happened and we are the dudes that rarely come out and do normal stuff. But we are still awesome we allways were awesome and we will allways be. And not just Minecraft made us addicted to PC,first was WoW, then Combat Arms and Battlefield, now Minecraft and Elder Scrolls Online will be next. When we were "normal" they knew us as awesome dudes, now they know us like pro gamers and with school got worst too, but i learned to controll myself and now im the smartest dude again.
The internet is like a drug -_-

Install a virus in your computer or just hit yourself with a baseball bat and hope to don't remember anything.
Crush your computer, so you can't play Minecraft.
Set a timer to let's say two hours. When it goes off, you should be conscious that you've played two hours or whatever your time is and get off, do something else and then come back.
Another suggestion is to sign up for a sports team. It will make sure you practice and will take your mind of Minecraft. Also, sports are fun!

It's simple. Un-install the game.
Solution: Get bored of it or have your parents take your computer away. If you are really serious about it, the solution is to take your parents and ask them to change the firewall settings to block all minecraft ever again. Use a timer, etc etc. I never go to that stage because I get bored easily(ADD)
