Edit potion particles?

Is there any way to edit the particle and/or colour of particles emitted by people who have just drank a potion? Is there a mod that does this, or a texture pack editor, or a texture back with modified potion particles?

Thanks for the reply, I found the potions.png in the textures folder, and that allows me to change the swirls from potions to a different shape/pattern, but is there a way to change the colour of the swirls given off by different potions? Eg strength potions give of red swirls, is there a way to make them give off green swirls for example?

You will need either MCPatcher or OptiFine for this. Create a colors.properties file in your texture pack and edit it with Notepad.

Then modify the hex RGB colors.
These are the default colors:

potion.blindness=1f1f23
potion.confusion=551d4a
potion.damageBoost=932423
potion.digSlowDown=4a4217
potion.digSpeed=d9c043
potion.fireResistance=e49a3a
potion.harm=430a09
potion.heal=f82423
potion.hunger=587653
potion.invisibility=7f8392
potion.jump=786297
potion.moveSlowdown=5a6c81
potion.moveSpeed=7cafc6
potion.nightVision=1f1fa1
potion.poison=4e9331
potion.regeneration=cd5cab
potion.resistance=99453a
potion.waterBreathing=2e5299
potion.weakness=484d48

Is there a specific subfolder in the texturepack files that this colors.properties [a txt file I presume] should go into? Like textures/misc/etc? Also, why is optifine/mcpatcher needed? Can't I just make a file on notepad with that code and save it into the texture pack somewhere?

It's part of the Custom Colors mod, not possible in vanilla. MCPatcher supports it.
Place the .PROPERTIES file in the root of the pack.
(You can create a .txt file and then rename it to .properties)

There is no mod or texture currently, but the easiest way is to make a texture. No one could make the effects the EXACT way you may want, so I recommend making it yourslef
