Framerate Vs Memory/Allocated Memory.

Ok So somehow I managed to set 1.7.2 to the Memory of 8ish Gigs
(to get this Experience Just put:

-Xmx8192M

In the JVM arguments box checked.)

But despite the memory literally staying at 4%, My frame rate still stayed as it was, like 30ish Frame rate but often just Stayed at the 10-5 frames before jumping to 30 again, I don't know.

So Uh, what do I do to Fix the framerate issue. I myself would love it if Optifine and Minecraft Forge would be Updated to 1.7.2, but clearly that is not going to happen.

So what Do I do or what Mod do I Manually install.

Better Yet, How do I get Outdated mods to work on latest Versions?

well, I saw that your max is 30FPS right? try turning off vsync in video settings from the options screen, as vsync should only be used when your screen is getting buggy from the FPS being higher than 30.

Vsync is off. It was off long before I wrote this thread.

Your fps does not DEPEND on memory.....
but upping your allocated memory for the game definatly boosts fps performance.

I stopped seeing an increase when I hit 2gb. I would suggest allocating 2gb to your game. I think this will help your 5-10fps spikes A LOT

Framerate (fps) and memory rely on different things, primarily fps relies on your graphics card, in short, the better graphics card you have the better fps you have. For instance gaming computers have graphics drivers that are designed to give you high fps in games.

Memory relies on the amount of gigabytes or megabytes of memory you have towards it.
As someone else mentioned previously you need minimum 1 gigabyte of memory to run minecraft,

Also fps goes down especially when you load chunks on a single player world. E.g. I have a healthy rate of 30fps average when running default with no mods and it goes down when I'm loading chunks. The settings can help you reduce the drop by doing things such as not limiting the fps you can get.

It's not really how much you put ram on to your Minecraft, it's the graphics card mostly and a good CPU. :3

Your framerate doesn't depend on your Memory. It depends on your CPU, and your graphics card, or Sandy bridge as some computers have.

Great How do I update my driver, (graphics Card) I haven't been able to do it.

You have 4gb of ram - 3gb of this is usable, and the rest is used for the OS (though less is used for Windows 8) - The rest is split between ram and vram. You have Intel HD Graphics (my old laptop had it, it's not great - 1.5.2 ran at 4fps) which isn't great for gaming. You won't push past 10fps unless you get Optifine (which might help, but isn't out yet)

Your computer has 4 GB of RAM, of which about 3.5 GB is available for use. The rest is used for memory for the Intel integrated graphics card.

No matter how much RAM you allocate to Minecraft, your FPS will not increase. The problem isn't the RAM, and it isn't not the processor; the problem is the graphics "card." The integrated graphics will take however much video memory it thinks it needs (i.e. it thinks it needs 100 MB to run Minecraft, which runs smoothly with 256 MB of VRAM or more), so unfortunately you're stuck between a rock and a hard place with running Minecraft on that particular computer.

It will run Halo, Star Wars Battlefront II (probably), and Team Fortress 2 (maybe) very well, however.

EDIT: Updating your graphics drivers may help improve performance; give it a try.

I'm not entirely sure, but memory helps the minecraft processing speed, such as loading more chunks. Framerate howevcer, is all based on your graphics card.

Minecraft never really needs more than 1 GB of memory to run well.

Assuming the computer must be relatively new since you have more than 8 GB of RAM in it, it's not the processor that's the issue.

Run dxdiag from the Start menu and tell me what is listed under "Display 1." What is really needed is the name, manufacturer, chip type, and approx. total memory. This stuff is information about your graphics card, which is most likely the source of the poor performance.

Minecraft Forge is currently being updated, I am actually looking at all the upcoming changes for it right now. Optifine, however, is going to take a while to update, because literally ALL of the rendering methods were changed in 1.7...

Outdated mods will not work with the current version of MC, due to method changes, variable name changes, and class deletion, etc...

Do not worry, Forge will be out soon...
