I use Mizuno Craft, the mobs are not overly cute and not totally creepy. The Villager's do become animals, but it's not weird. Additionally I use a mod called Farmer's Delight, it really makes farming a huge part of play. It does add alot more work in some cases but the reward is worth it.

Mizuno also has a CIT pack that requires Optifine, but the base texture pack does not
