My username is case-sensitive, but signature making sites always say I have no skin set or my username is "unknown".
Do you know why?

I bet it's 'cause those use the old skin URL (s3.amazonaws.com/MinecraftSkins/PLAYERNAME.png), but your skin is only stored in the new place (skins.minecraft.net/MinecraftSkins/PLAYERNAME.png).
s3.amazonaws.com/MinecraftSkins/IHeartPastel.png doesn't exist:

Not sure what you are talking about but have you made a skin? Find a skin on planet minecraft that you like and hit "change my skin"
