If vanila, use fabric, if fabric, use optifabric, if forge, use optiforge, these are the most mainline fps boosters, however sodium, lithium ect have the same effect. Also it is worth noting just installing fabric does not change much, you need to optimize the video settings. Also drop render distance to about 12-15. Also realocateing ram can help if you know what your doing (don't allocate more then half of what you have).
Use Sodium, a fabric fps mod. It also combines well with the lithium and phosphor mods.
play a world that's just a void OR play old alpha
Use Sodium, set render distance to something like 6 to 10, and make sure you have around 4 gigs of memory allocated
Lower the render distance , use texture packs with simple textures ( easyblocks , bare bones ) , and I don't know.
Optifine isn't the best performance mod out there. that award would probably go to Sodium, a performance mod for the Fabric modloader. also, try increasing the amount of ram allocated to minecraft. 4-6 gb is good enough for vanilla minecraft.
Sodium is objectively better than optifine.
You really beat me to it, Sodium does wonders on making the game run on even really low-end hardware!
Any chance OP can provide us with system specifications? (A screenshot from Speccy/Task Manager would do wonders!)

In 1.18 render distance is split up in render distance and simulation distance. This last one is what takes all the computing power, the lower the simulation distance, the less mobs and other things will update.
Also, not all options should be at their lowest setting. (Like MaxFPS you obviously want that to be very high)

Try running minecraft with more ram. Here's how to do it in vanilla:

To do it on optifine, you would need to follow a different process by running it from the terminal with the tags -xms and -xmx set to however much memory you want to give it.

Too much RAM is actually deterimental to your game though.
It wonders what to do about the excess RAM and hangs a bit, resulting in less computations, which means less fps

interesting! I never knew that
why would you want more frames and without lunar i don't think you can
I dont think you'd want to play minecraft with 10 fps
Do you have other things in the background?
Im having similar problems on a server, are you experiencing lag in singleplayer or server?
