I believe you mean "Buy a windows computer" because PC could be defined as any computer that being the term "Personal Computer" so you could just as easily be saying throw the mac in the trash and go buy another mac

And wether Mac or Pc is better all comes down to a matter of opinion. Some like Mac, some like PC.

LOL! It's not really true though, my mac runs 40fps on 64x texture packs

Some basic steps to make it faster.

1) Open up the Minecraft Launcher (you better know what this is)
2) Click "edit profile"
3) Scroll down the profile menu until you see a box called "JVM Arguments"
4) Check that box and type in -Xmx3G- -Xms3G-

You just gave yourself 3 gigabytes of RAM!

not its not true some people like mac some people like windows. and i love (ubuntu)linux and some people like linux. i think you put linux on a mac(if you want) better than windows and it increased fps also you should look in the options -> video settings. remember 30 fps is playable and 60 fps is good for playing its more the better and fluid gameplay anyway heres my video settings i attached to the post it... its not fancy it's just minimal setting designed to increase fps good luck

If we compare performance to price, PCs will win every time. Macs are NOT meant for games, and attempting to do such will result in disappointment and frustration.
Customize a Mac properly and get back to me.

While not all PCs are good, and all Macs are not meant for games, we can determine that PC is better just by looking at the performance to price ratio.

Sell the Mac and buy a decent computer?

Anyways, it may have something to do with your in-game settings. Have you tried adjusting graphics, render distance, etc.?

Can a Mac user not ask a simple question without some immature PC fanboys jumping in an screaming ''OMgz Pc r soooo much btter liek dey can be upgrded'' Yeah, we know, Windows (NOT PC, A PC is a Personal Computer, meaning a Mac, or a Windows) computers are upgradable and can be easily customized.

But A Mac though, yes, they use old-ish parts that don't match what the likes of Randomness and Killertoad (and the others, not forgetting you guys ) can pack into a sleek case for around £500, still have a lot of cool features not found on Windows.

I don't own a Mac (sadly) so I can't fully say what is better but they are both a lot different, a Mac is great for animators, artists and sometimes Gamers. While a Windows caters to all (If you build it right)

So do us all a favour and stop nagging on and on about whats better, comparing them is just stupid.

Anyway, OP, Try removing any old files from your PC and run as little as possible when playing MC.

Giving minecraft more RAM will not make your fps greater 3GB isn't going to give you less FPS then 6GB or 9GB and so on and you most likely shouldnt even be running minecraft at 1/4 a GB anyways

I would mess around with the setting optifine adds also if you are using a texture pack make sure the resolution isnt to much for the computer to handle

It does make a difference. See for yourself.

Also, turn Fancy Graphics, Particles, View Bobbing, and Smooth Lighting off.

Yes intel iGPU are bad but it is not worth spending 30-50 dollars of a GPU when u can get one that is 100-120 that is 3 times the performance. SO i am basically saying dont buy cheap GPUs.

Wow, you guys did what he said not to do. Way to go.

Anyways, your specs are not that good, the gpu is pretty low end. Minecraft relies a lot on the GPU now, which is why you can put a 4690k and a gt 6400 together, and you may get 15 frames on low. It doesn't rely solely on the CPU.

For the ram, more ram will not make it faster, when really, if you give it too much, it'll slow it down. Lets say you have 4GB's of ram. Minecraft will only use up to 512MB's of ram, ever. So if you allocate 3GB's to it (and it won't use all 3GB's, will only use up to 512mb's), then that leaves 1GB left for the system, and most likely your system will start slowing down, until Windows (or Mac) runs out of memory, and then you have crashed your computer.

And also, unless it is a Mac Pro, you can't upgrade your GPU in a Mac, and with those specs, I assume he has a laptop. (He even said 13 inch screen..)

PCs: Good for gaming, home users & just fooling around.
Macs: Good for professional work, also useful if you like waiting and lagging.
If you want to play Minecraft with at least a minimal (~30-60fps) framerate, get a PC. They're upgradable, fast, easy to use and wayyyyy better for games than Macs. GET IT, unless you want to be stuck with 10fps.

To OP:Your specs aren't good sorry. Maybe it's time for an upgrade

To PC MasterRace People: I've had so many more problems with my gaming computer which I've only downloaded steam games on so I installed a troublesome one on my Mac and it ran perfectly fine. The PC has more choice and can be customized a lot, but OSX seems to run what I throw at it perfectly fine even when windows did not

Specs:

Mac:
i5 3.1ghz Quad-Core
ATI Radeon 6970M 1gb ram
20GB DDR3 Ram
Idk what the motherboard is
1TB hard drive
Running OS 10.9
PC:
Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core
ASRock Fatal1ty Z97X Killer ATX LGA1150
8Gb of DDR3 Ram
2Tb hard drive with 128gb SSD as boot disc
EVGA Ge Force GTX 760 2Gb superclocked ACX
Running windows 7 professional

People saying just to get a pc, you are generalizing. (also macs are PCs) You are pretty much saying I could go get a dell optiplex 620 and it will be faster than the best mac pro.

Afoot. Building a hackintosh is actually a lot harder than buying a mac. You need to mess with unsupported drivers plus it violates apples terms of service.

You can't get a new GPU for your laptop. You're really gonna have to get a new computer (Mac or a custom PC, but the custom PC would be better, because of the cost) or you're gonna have to deal with the low FPS :b
