Hi, it isn't really hard. Limit is the time you want to put into it.
Step one, create a folder that copies the original .minecraft structure
Step two, any block or item you put in its folder will replace the original when you land your pack
Make sure you stick to the same dimension, that it is a png type file and don't go too high resolution
Learn by opening other peoples pack and see how they do it, I have learned a lot that way

What do I put into the .minecraft structure folder?
It goes as follow, first folder of the pack is assets then minecraft then textures
In the textures folder you add a folder for block and one for item if you want to make them too.
