Hi i've just gotten Minecraft Java edition and i decided to make my own skin. I used BlockBench and i really like how it came out. The only problem is everytime i try to load it onto my account it wont work. First it said not a png file so i changed it but now it says incorrect image dimensions. i dont know what to do. if someone could help me that would be really great. I'll attach the png file.

I opened it to fix it, but compression destroyed it, can i have the original file?

I wouldn't use blockbench for skins, thats more for custom models in the game. Use a skin editor and it will come out in the correct file format.

Hi there! After downloading your file, I found that it looks like this:

That white space surrounding the skin file needs to be removed, otherwise Minecraft will not see it as a skin file! Also, to me it seems like your skin is not in the default resolution of a skin, and is in an HD skin form. Sadly, Minecraft Java Edition is not compatible with HD skins, and so your skin would only be usable on Bedrock editions. Hopefully this helps a bit, if your skin needs to be redone you can find people in the workshop forums holding open skin requests, or you can use PMCSkin3D to remake it in the correct size.

i can't tell from the image but it seems that that is an HD skin, which is not supported in vanilla Java.
