With the new minecraft launcher, I ave come accross a MASSIVE fos drop. By massive i mean from 250+ FPS to 12 FPS. I was hoping someone might have a fix to this!

Let me know!

I play on a heavily modded private server and have come across this problem. At first my game runs fine for a short while when i first start minecraft for the day then the fps drops and i get a GL Error 1285 out of memory. and it like lag but no problem with my connection. To fix this after much reading and testing and finally conversing with my server admin I had to adjust my perm size. -XX:PermSize=256m. But I was on Java 32 bit so that wouldn't run mc for me because i didnt have enough available ram (4gb on Vista 32bit) so i had to reduce my max mem allocation

In the 1.6 launcher i added JVM arguments

-Xmx=768m -XX:PermSize=256m

And so far things have been stable.
I tried updating drivers and java with no result.
I tried lowering video settings as well.

I don't really know if this will fix your problem but it helped me get back to playing normally

It says it does. Don't look at what it says. Just look at how much faster it's running.

If you run an Nvidia card, make sure to add javaw.exe to the force-render menu. This will force your minecraft to use your graphics card.

If you are not sure how to do this, go to Desktop and right click>NVIDIA Control Panel>Manage 3D Settings>Program Settings and then click "Select a program to customize. Then type in javaw.exe and select the right graphics card to use.

Optifine makes my FPS worse, tbh

I agree with this, just gives me less fps and more lag. so I removed it. Pissed me off as well. Render distance: min, still lagging -_-

I think deleting the old minecraft should work, if you havent already.

Since it is a new client. You most likely won't be getting a very good fps rate. But the snooper data that Mojang collects will sure help them minimize their data to allow computers to run it better. I also don't think there is a really good way to boost fps except for close everything, set priority to Minecraft and change settings around to get max fps.
