When I fullscreen my minecraft there is a 1 - 2 minute window in which the game completely freezes my computer. Please note this is only in the TRANSITION from windowed TO fullscreen, where my computer is completely frozen and I get little sparks of updates of where my mouse is. In windowed MC is fine, and when it eventually gets into fullscreen MC is fine, but between those two points is where I have to wait minutes to play.
I have reinstalled minecraft and java. I have updated my drivers. My CPU and Memory remain completely fine during this process. I have it added to my firewall. I have done literally everything I can think of that could possibly cause this problem, and nothing has worked. The transition to fullscreen is the only problem I have with the game, my computer and everything else is fine.
The problem does not occur in 1.8+, only 1.7 and lower.
Is this a problem with anyone else? How do I fix it?

Does this also happen when you alt-tab out of fullscreen?
Do you have two monitors? Unhook the second and try again.
What processor and graphics card do you have? Or, are they high-end/gaming parts? If you're playing on a Notebook or something this is... Well, I wouldn't say normal, but I wouldn't be surprised. Minecraft on my Notebook worked about that well.
How much RAM do you have? Have you allocated extra memory to Minecraft? If you allocate too much memory, you could be causing your system to hang during the fullscreen transition.
Also, why are you transitioning from windowed to fullscreen so frequently? Why not just stick with one? If you need it to be windowed for recording or something but prefer fullscreen, you can make it a borderless window by adding "-Dorg.lwjgl.opengl.Window.undecorated=true" to the launcher arguments.
