Minecraft "Staff-Finder" Web application idea.

I suggest putting the listings in pages. So you don't get 100 applications on a single page.

I can change my "job" to anything aside from Web Developer, it resets when i save it.

Its useless, Minecraft server owners should get staff from trusted players, not some online form. Ive been doing this for 4 years now and you can never trust a noob.

Also,

You being level 1 doesn't help people trust you, how can anyone not know your just trying to use this method to gain or steal information.?

Every server owner should get deleted ? Because that is going to happen with that.
Pesky children will abuse the voting service on owners if they dont get op when they join the server.

It could be fixed by having a "Trial" and a "Hire" and a "Fire" button. So you could only rate if you quit and arent fired.

Basic HTML content is allowed. It's enough to stop XSS attacks. I think i found one whilst reading this by allowing link alts included with img url

I have looked on a few portfolios that say "contact me and we can make a deal!" then i cant find any contact information... Maybe contact info can be changeable in the edit profile section and appears under the persons portfolio? Things like Skype, etc.

You should also add a PM feature.

Maybe you could add a function that says how much they think they will be able to go on the server and how much they want to be paid

I have a feeling that the OP copied someone elses website by viewing and copying source and then adding his own php into it.

This is the old domain, the owner changed it yesterday. He has forgotten to change the code to stop this from happening.

I came up with the idea for a Minecraft server-staff website. I've seen nothing like this before (server-based, obviously staff sites are very common).
I've been working on the front-end (HTML/CSS) and paid a friend to code up the back-end (PHP work) for me.

Today it is almost complete. I will leave a test link since i have yet to find a suitable domain. WE NOW HAVE A DOMAIN

Currently Working:
Working Register, Login, Edit Profile
Working find feature (Searches through database looking for match)
Working portfolios and public/non-public profiles
Admin panel. Allowing viewing of hidden profiles.

Working On:
An application feature allowing server-owners to send their applications to possible candidates for them to ask them unanswered questions. (Currently contact details need to be kept in the portfolio section)
Termination of users. Currently it needs to be manually done. We'll be working on a mac-ban, uuid and ip banning system.
reCAPTCHA secure register captcha. I've been having problems getting the key. I'll try on the new domain (once i buy it)
ProMEM feature. Appears higher in filter-results for a small cost.
Featuring more games than Minecraft. Eventually.

This is a bad idea.

Unless the server owner in question is clueless, no one going to give someone admin if they don't know them to begin with. Why would I hire some guy from some random website if I could choose a player I know well and have them apply on my website?

If you start them low, you don't have much to worry about.

Roleplay_UniverseI like the idea, I think it will improve staff ranks so that you don't just hire a random person who you don't really trust. Then give them op and then they grief your server. This should stop that. Continue with this idea

That's why you use a Permissions plugin and start them at a low rank. Don't give them op. that's just common sense.

Also an idea is a 'trusted' system
mysql column called trusted int(1) default as defined: 0
then with the voting system which has been mentioned, if the user has say.. 10 or more positive votes

use a mysql query to set their trusted column to 1
then they get a little trusted watermark before their name

Is there any proof of people having experience? I think voting could ruin it because people will make alternate accounts, and will get their friends to vote.

Another bug, updating your position on Edit profile doesn't work. I tried putting web developer and it didn't work.

Also here is a suggestion:
Add BBCode to the portfolio editor, so people can nicely format their text.

the only way to find trust worthy staff, is hiring a player who has server experience.

I desperately need staff, but because of the intense nature of the modpack and server, there is a massive lack of understanding when people ask for staff.

I ask for 3 months gameplay as a police officer, then i will invite them to staff rank.

Anyone can lie about their experience on a website, of which are 90% troll.

Is there a way to register as someone looking to be hired, as well as a server owner? I wouldn't need this, but some people may.

Some fancy design etc. would make it cool

Im registering for owner, and also please can you have different types of developers like, plugin or permissions or configurationer so we can hire different types.
Also can we be able to add a short description to it and have a list of servers needing staff for the people applying.
Then also, have more staff search options, like online staff, and then different categories e.g Admin, Subadmin, and all that.
Plus you could have a plugin which connects your account to your server so have the plugin linked with pex and add them directly.

And also allow owners to click on staff and put a vote on them saying this staff was bad or good, and then have a fire button and a group-chat for the staff, and once you have 10 bads, if you haven’t gotten at least 10 goods, then your declared evil or something, and after that if your bad ratio is over your good ratio for a period of time, your declared evil.
Then each bad mark is watched by website mods, so then if the server owner is bad then the owner can be declared invalid, thus making his server down the list of servers and eventually removed. Also have an ai that tells you wether a staff member is good or not, and have it recommend plugins. Also have a public description of what others describe you as and have public descriptions for servers aswell So you gotta be a good owner for good staff. Also you can put an age group or have requirements, and that will make it invisible to people who don’t meet the requirements so no pesky people lying for it.
