Thx guys it helped so much I made a tekkit and a regular minecraft server and my next question is I downloaded group manager and I try a command on tekkit and it says internal error so I go into the file and change it to the prefix and then put me in the owner group then restart server and it doesn't say owner?

make sure you have the .jar files directly in the plugins folder and not in any .zip folders

Yeah, all the plugins have to be in .jar format. They will automaticclly generate their own folders. When you get the plugin, put in the plugins folder, and type "reload" into console. It should reload the server, and voila! The plugin generates a folder and it works

It won't let you put them in or are they already in?

what does your start.command/start.sh look like?

Also, make sure in your server.properties the IP address is your IPv4 address and not your public IP. Make sure you port forward to the IPv4 address as well.

Also I think something is wrong with my terminal because it doesn't say last login when I open it and then the start.command won't worm

In that case, restart your computer, and make sure you stop the server using the "stop" command, and always start it using the proper .bat file. It sounds like you have a lingering instance of the server running from improper closing.

At any rate, what address are you using to connect for yourself, and can you verify the following?:

  • The server's router has the correct port forwarded
  • The server's router does not have a firewall (or if it is, it is disabled)
  • The machine's firewall has the correct port forwarded
  • The machine's firewall is not blocking java connections
  • The server.properties file "server-ip" feild is blank.

If those are all correct, please upload screenshots of the port forwarding

Changer port from 25565 to 25566 and it worked but it said preparing spawn 92% then said it was done but the server wasn't up

First make sure that you are using the same port in your router, as the one in your properties.
If the error still comes up, open task manager, find javaw.exe , right click it, end process, and then re open your starter file.

Leave the "server-ip=" field in your server.properties file blank.
