Question about DOMAINS

Hello everyone!

Only people who exactly know what a domain is may be able to answer to this question, so I won't explain what it is.

I use one (that I bought from my host) for my server's ip. However, I'd like to rebuy it from an other reseller (don't ask me why, it'd be too complicated to explain). So I sent a mail to my host asking him to delete my domain but he answered that it was not possible to delete a domain, that you had to wait for it to expire! Is that even true? Will I have to wait for my domain to expire (several months!) before being able to buy it again, or is my host just too lazy to do it? He might be right but it's hard to believe so I just need a confirmation.

Thanks!

It doesn't need to expire, ask them if you can't yourself to cancel it or in their case, "terminate" it.

Can't you just transfer it? Most domain registrars have a service for transferring domains.

This is what they said exactly:
"You can terminate it before it expires. You let it expire then it's removed. You pay a year a time. The domain will go away once it expires."

Yeah, I believe the domain needs to expire. I'm no domains expert, but what they say makes sense based on what little I know about the domain service.

You can cancel it anytime. You won't get a refund, but it'll work. He's too lazy
