Ok, I just got a new desktop that I want to use as a server for minecraft and minecraft only, I just reformatted it with OS windows server 2008, it has 8gb of ram, and a 64 bit os... Does anyone know the software I have to install from here to be able to run a server, in exacts? I have installed java and played with the paths and am getting numerous errors and am looking to just start over, do not bug me with technical JavaScript code etc. I do not have any education in coding languages other than HTML and simple Lua... Help... Please??

Nevermind, fixed... I had to get an alternative console for ANSI, and get a few different programs... Can a mod close this maybe?

@above help

I have my minecraft server folders all set up and good to go, I am just having trouble getting the start.bat command to communicate with java correctly... Would it be more helpful if I give you the error code that shows up in the cprompt? This was the error from the start...

By the way, thanks for the help attempts, it seems you just did not understand my description of the problem the way I'd hoped.

--edit--
I know the start.bat coding is correct because I have used it with my previous pc, do you think it would have any difference if I used gb formatting instead of my somewhat 5000mb(I am just rounding what it is here..) format?

Uhm,when java is installed u only need a programm called screen.
For this run in your SSL Console:

apt-get install screen

After that create a new folder and call it minecraft and put in the last bukkit version.Rename the version to bukkit.jar

now go back to the console, direct it to the minecraft folder with this command:

cd minecraft (depens where the folder is,you can just drag your folder into the console)

Now start bukkit via this command:

screen -S minecraft java -Xms3G -Xmx4G -jar craftbukkit.jar nogui

3GB is the min RAM and 4GB the max, edit these

Screens runs your server even when your console is closed.
You can acces the bukkit console again when u run:

screen -rx

Ok, so I'm assuming that you want bukkit.
What you do is to download the latest crafbukkit and install this.
I don't have very much time right now, so I will just give you some resources. I have written a blog on how to make a server, a blog on plugins, and also an example startup script.

Here are the links:

I hope that those help you good luck!
P.S. if you need permissions, and use PermissionsEX, go here:
