My Skin

So no one on multiplayer can ever see my skin, i put my skin ( a .PNG) in the profile section upload it and it says its uploaded correctly ETC but when i go on multiplayer people say my skin is steve no matter what! ive tryed not having minecraft open, re installing minecraft and several other things, it used to work fine and i dont know whats wrong please help!
