Hey guys so lately i've been making Texture Packs and Mods and to make the textures I used photoshop. One day I saw other texture packs and I was like ''Or they are complete pros or they use another program'' so yea. I wanted to know if there's another program better than photoshop for making textures

Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me :)

There are many pixel drawer programs out there that i would use, just for easy use of coloring pixels in any size and or format.

I personally don't like GIMP and Paint.net because of compatibility. Both programs work with Most OS, but they suck when it comes to RAM. Both to me are rather messy (due to multi-windows). And I know someone will say Photoshop sucks at RAMalso... but that is wrong. By your version of photoshop it might. I was able to run it on a Windows XP PC that only has 1 gb of RAM (due to me replacing it's old ram though) and has trash for graphics but it works really fine with photos under 5 inches (or 1500 pixels). If you can't afford photoshop or can't download applications then I suggest Pixlr. Pixlr is 100% online and free. It is well organized. The only problem is you need Flash, so if you can't get Flash on your computer then well-that-sucks.

I use Photoshop for my minor quick things... like textures... but if you are doing branding you might want to use Illustrator because it works with vectors and can be downsized and upsized easily. btw Illustrator does cost $60 a month and is not recommended if you aren't making money off anything you use Illustrator... (Example: I work with a design company that owns several huge and expensive printers and can make stickers, signs, t-shirt designs, and window clings) If you have photoshop stick with it.. it is your best option.

There is no best program. The program does not define the artist, and most importantly: what works for me doesn't have to work for you.

Photoshop is nice program, but I personally use GIMP, paint.net or Paint Tool SAI if I need to change something. Try them and maybe you'll like it.

GIMP, free and while it takes a little bit of time to get into, once you get it, it can make resourcepack creating a lot easier! :D

Paint.NET or GIMP are both free and are both perfectly capable of making textures. McSkin3D also has some texture pack functionality-- most notably for mobs.

Paint.NET is my absolute favourite, too bad that it's not avalible for linux. I either use Pinta which is a cheap knock-off (which is buggy, laggy but just good enough for most things) or a VM with Paint.NET for all the features that Pinta either lacks or crashes when using them.

For texture packs and mods, stick with photoshop or use paint.net. For skins, I use the minecraftskins.com skin editor.

MCSkin3D or Novaskin.
They both give you a 3D view of whatever texture you are editing.
As for audio, I recommend Audacity.

I saw some screenshots of it and all of them was for minecraft skins (I use nova skin to make my skin but I once tried to make a texture and I didn't enjoy very it was kinda laggy or some sort)

The screenshots display the skin editor, but the program can edit any texture.
It's in the dropdown menu, you will see it.

It's not that complicated, it almost works like the Novaskin (player skin) editor.
Added bonus, it edits blocks and also mobs and other stuff.
