Forum "Like" "Up" Feature

I personally think that it would be really cool to have a function where you can give someone a +1 for a really good reply or question or anything. Maybe these +1's can be the mixing point if the levels and Forums. It could be something like for every +1 you get, you get .25 exp.
But that's besides the point. What would you guys think a a +1 feature on posts to show your appreciation (and depreciation -1) for helpful answers and such?

I like this idea, however, it would have to be cleverly designed to avoid people spamming the -1 button or whatever. Maybe you can only dislike posts if you're level 15 or above?

It could be neat - I know there are times where someone has posted something overly amazing, and I've wished there were a way I could say "Hey, guy, I like this stuff," without having to comment on the thread, and become subscribed.
However, what exactly is the point? There's already enough forum spam, without people competing for "likes" - We don't need to add to that.
(Not to mention, the tally of "likes" would add another storage bank, and could slow down the site a bit more.)

The likes wouldn't really effect the site's speed all that much. And again, this would probably DECREASE spam because people would -1 spam. In order for people to give someone a +1 they will want to feel like they were helped by them or made them laugh in some way.

No, it wouldn't decrease spam, at all. Spammers are going to spam, no matter what, because they either *know* it annoys people, or the legitimately believe that what they have to say (no matter how disrespectful or insulting it is) is more important than anyone else's, and won't be acted against.

Seems cool, but I think if it gave xp, people would post random stuff, spamming the forum, just to get some more xp. Without xp it would be better, but a little pointless I guess....

I dont mean getting xp everytime you post. I mean getting a little xp for every upvote you get. It would encourage mature and helpful responses.

Like right now I had to click it on the side, It won't work (at least for me) when I open it from 'Your Posts'

It would become too much of a competition in my opinion. Everyone who is someone would post things just to rake in likes.

True, True. But maybe there could be a punishment for doing that and it would possibly bring in more forum users. And the other good thing about it is that, if the reply isn't good/helpful then they will get -1'ed but they will get rewarded with a +1 if its good

No changes or additions will be made to the forums until Cyprezz rewrites them from scratch, this is a long way away.
