So I have been wondering, what will happen when Minecraft passes 1.9? Will Mojang make a completely new game that is something along the lines of "Minecraft 2: Creepers' Destiny" (just an example) OR will it just be the same Minecraft but it will just be something like "Minecraft v2.x?" (also an example)

Most people say its going to be 'larger then most' but its like saying "name changes wont come out" and they are coming out...for all we know it'll be a small update. So lets not jump to the conclusion and believe the fact it'll automatically be a huge update.

it'll either go 1.10 or 2.0, either way it'll continue to go on and that update (1.10 or 2.0) will be larger than most.
I believe it will probably have to go to 2.0, because 1.10 would equal to 1.1 (think back to what ya'll learned in elementary school Math.) It'll still be the same Minecraft though, not a whole new game or anything.

There will not be anymore minecraft, Notch will shut it down and we'll all convert to the infinitely more superior Roblox.

Probably nothing will really "chance" accept for the fact that they might add some new texture's to some new blocks and items. Just like every outhere update, it's just called 2.0 ^^

Those were development stages. Since we are in the stage where it will keep going, we will go past 1.9 into 1.10.

Version numbers aren't like decimals, they all increment independently of one another; so when that 9 becomes a 10, the 1 before it won't be changed.

Btw does anyone ever read the thing that comes after the defeation of the ender dragon? Its the creation story of minecraft plus it gives hints to the fact that steve is some kind of monster/demigod. Or the first human.
We will be able to, by not using 1.8. No one said you had to download and use the 1.8 format.

Most companies don't do 2.0s as it can cause confusion if they ever intend to make a sequel with a lazy name (ie, Minecraft 2). I doubt that Minecraft will ever spawn a direct sequel, but like David above said, chances are they will go to 1.10 and move up that way.
It will be 2.0 because of it's version. There's no point in making a new minecraft as it gets updated everytime. We've already reached Minecraft 2.0 IMO. Just look at a couple videos of mc alpha. Damn these good old times!
Dinnernbone tweeted a long time ago that 1.9 wont go to 2.0. 2.0 will come when there is a VERY MAJOR update. The way the updates are now it will continue to go up to 1.10 1.15 1.1253.0 and so on until they feel like it is time to do a major change. Which by the tweets of the 2.0 Fools joke in 2013 will not come any time soon or probably will never come.

Nothing special will be past 2.0. Sure, it may be a pretty big update, but nothing too major, like expansions on mmo's; it wouldn't fit Minecraft. Updates will just continue on, 2.1, 2.2 etc.

I think if a minecraft 2 is made they really need to make it in c++ I bet the game will be much more stable and less of a resource hog.
No.... The stability doesn't change on the programming language... It depends on how well Mojang programs it. And even then, they would have to port the game for linux, mac, and other stuff. Java is multiplatform, and is the best for minecraft.
