Does any one know why the knew version of MineCraft is so slow?
and also does anyone know if the "clean" graphic mods speed up the performance; id love to know ಠ_ಠ

Also, make sure you have the latest version of Java. If your computer & OS are 64bit, be sure to get the 64bit version.
After that, close everything you're not using to free up resources.
Depending on how involved you'd like to get, you might consider looking into ways to optimize your computer in general. It's a good idea to do that anyways. Lastly, look for mods and tweaks specific to Minecraft. It can be a headache.

Since Minecraft is java-based and therefore eat a lot of your computer's memory I've noticed that just doing a disk clean up on your main drive helps quite a bit with performance. At least it does for me.
Are you using "Fast" graphics mode? That helps a lot. Clean skin might help a little but only with "Fast" graphics. And change the fog to Normal if you play with far.
