Here's the scenario:
Your friend is booting up a new Minecraft world, and they know you are going to be removing one block from their game, but they don't know which one.
Which block to you choose (and why), so that they would go as long as possible without finding out what it is.
Let's assume they can only make a guess once per three hours, so they can't just say random things.
They have to play on the world until they find out.
It must be a block that is obtainable or possible to find in survival.

lightly weathered cut copper stairs cus who would ever think to check that and it would be hard to notice how the copper just skips a stage
True, true. Especially if they were testing all copper blocks at once, since copper doesn't always take the same amount of time ageing.

True, and especially since silverfish are very rare, it'd be hard to test if they could infest chiseled bricks.
perhaps a dead pink coral fan?
Smart choice! If your friend went searching in coral reefs for missing blocks, it's likely they wouldn't try drying out the blocks on land, too.

So everywhere void air would be is just replaced with, normal air?
Honestly this is the best answer yet because it involves using the f3 screen.
But if your friend knows how to use it, void air is very easy to find in the end. It would take a while but he would find out eventually.
Also if I was stuck and had to guess smth, I'd definately say void air as my first guess.

Well wouldn't the gold ore in the nether be a good choice, especially as you would need silk touch to get it!

Red nether bricks
Clever! If I had to try find a missing block I would go searching all the bigger categories first (like dyed blocks, workbenches etc). Red nether bricks are kind of their own thing and it's likely I'd check them much later.
I can't even remember the last time i saw red nether bricks, was hard to think of an block i don't even properly remember

Sculk veins, as they are indistinguishable from sculk blocks.
I can definitely tell the difference lol, but since deep dark adventures are late game -- you might be onto something.
I think that if you find one, it will be on a sculk block, and you can hardly tell if a sculk vein is on a block.
Skulk veins never naturally generate on skulk blocks.
But a deactivated shrieker is a great idea!
