I honestly don't think it's worth the time or money. With those specs, your laptop should be fine. If you're looking for speed, try installing an SSD?

For a lot of laptops you actually can add memory.
.... I never said you can't? I'm fully aware that you can, although most of the time it's a waste.
Sorry, I meant to say that it can be useful. Many reviews on the laptop said upgrading/adding memory makes the laptop faster.

That's only true if you're running with 2GB of ram and on Windows 7 or higher. 8GB is more than enough. That's not the bottleneck, the bottleneck would either be the GPU or CPU, which unfortunately is not up-gradable on a laptop. So I would save your money and invest in a new computer.
