I noticed one of the registered users that was on at the time in the forums was a light grey color and was called google [bot] what exactly is that?

Meh, I never share sensitive info, but you never know some of those sites that you can use to find people seems to have to the correct info most of the time somehow. Ohhh, a Yahoo bot now.... I wonder why I never see them pop up at the registered users list on other forums...?
You don't have to worry about Google bots, they visit every public site on the internet. If they didn't there would be no Google. However, there are bots written by others that are looking for sensitive info on the internet. If we can read it, bots can gather it to be analyzed for patterns that match what they are looking for. You should never share sensitive info online, honestly not even on Facebook, but everyone does. This is why there is a lot of controversy around Facebook's privacy policy.
Granted its not like people post sensitive info on here.... (I hope not at least) that the google bot can index which then at somepoint will be put into some website like whitepages and such... I think that was all I really had question wise on the bot, never did see it before on other forums.
Yes. It's a very good thing that they visit and index the site. They help the world find what members are creating. Every site in Google is visited by a Google bot. For constantly changing sites like this one, they visit multiple times a day to keep their search engine up to date.
They didn't register but the forums know about the bot + 49 other common search engine spiders. They will show up in the online list when they are indexing the forum content. They, the spiders, 'browse' the forums and the rest of the site to index new and existing content for their search directories.

Web crawler. That is what analyzes a website and makes the content Google search friendly as well as adds it to Google search.
